Looking forward to trying Spiritfarer but ‘management’ games aren’t usually my thing. Definitely not looking forward to playing Resi 7 again, just pure trauma from start to finish.

I'm streaming a Madhouse run of Resi 7 later, the first part yesterday was strawberry floating awful. So difficult, so frightening.

I’ve got Cumberdanes coming to mine for a sesh 2 days after it drops onto Gamepass - he had to do a boss fight for me that I just couldn’t do last time I played it a couple of year back, so I’ve timed it quite well.

Which one? He watched me strawberry floating fumble at the very first boss for a full hour last night, he could've maybe stepped in and done it for me too!

It involved hanging meat, for the risk of spoilers. I tried it myself literally about 40-50 times, that prick did it first time, half cut.

Aw, the chainsaw fight? Fair play, I hated that one.

Hardest boss in the game. I got Cumberdanes to find all the upgraded weapons/weapon parts (?) shortly afterwards too. He’s my own personal Game Genie.

Rumours of being able to 'bolt on' EA access (or a form of it to have latest EA titles) and Uplay for latest Ubisoft titles onto Gamepass for a small price... :shifty:

I wouldn't mind that, as long as doing so proved to be a significant saving, and... y'know... not near the same price as you'd pay anyway.

Started Battletoads last night. Its bloody brilliant. I also think that the writing is really funny. The combat has been very engaging, with spacing and telegraphing perhaps more important than button combos etc. It all feels very skill based (restricting enemy movement with bubble gum, juggles, using morph attack only when you have enough time to do so). Also the different game styles and small collectible challenges keep it feeling fresh as well.

I hate to say it, but i'm preferring it to Streets of Rage 4 (which i also liked).

Me too, if only for that fact that it has mini games and is genuinely hilarious, actually, it's not just that, the beat em up sections are better too with far more complexity than SoR4.

This is exactly my feeling also. And it's a better SP game.

So why have some outlets tore strips off it? Anyone here who has tried it and not enjoyed it?

I know John Linneman of DF hates it, and loves the old NES originals he doesn't go into detail, just that he feels 'its not what battletoads should be'. I will caveat that I also love SoR4 and prefer it's soundtrack but both games are perfect arcade GP fodder. Maybe the 'saturday morning cartoon' feel rubs people the wrong way?

I LOVED Sunset Overdrive but some people HATED it's humour.

I just know it’s based on late 90’s internet culture and design sensibilities and was a Giant Bomb top 10 game Of the year from a couple of years back, so I’m instantly intrigued. I’m sure it would be far better suited to playing on PC but alas that’s not an option I have.

I've tried and it and don't get it. It seems a poor beat 'em up with a really strawberry floating annoying "click here to send emails" section.

People who know me, know me. I'm a pretty blokey bloke, I like my whiskey, my Guinness, my heavy metal and my action movies. Hell yeah. :datass:

My first trip to the Everdoor in Spiritfarer actually just had me shedding tears. Manly tears obviously but christ I think that's the first time a game has made me cry.

I'm not getting on with it either. The toads seem to move really slowly and the combat seems really sluggish.

I think SOR4 is far superior. I got the achievement for getting an S rank on every stage on SOR4 to do so you have to keep your combo going through out the majority of the level. Try and do that and see if you still think there's no complexity to it.

Yeah, SOR4 is great.
