Try Monster Train in the same genre. It's less pure, but same style of gameplay with added faction and board presence mechanics.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Playing Ori and the Will of the Wisps. It’s both beautiful and fantastic. I’m really not a fan of Metroidvanias, but these 2 games are just so delightful and mechanically perfect I can’t get enough of exploring and uncovering secrets.

Neoverse is also pretty decent, if you don't mind the DOA esque characters (with optional swimsuit costumes).

I will investigate, thanks. Currently at Ascension 14 on Slay The Spire so I feel it's got some mileage left in it yet.

I keep toing and froing over whether to go for 3 years gold and upgrading to Ultimate, like it’s a great deal of 3 years GPU for approx £125 to £130. I’ve played a few games to completion that I wouldn’t be interested in buying for a reduced price (Hellblade and Plague Tale for example) but I found Halo MCC’s price too good not to opt for (£18 for 6 games!), definitely pointless doing it for every game you enjoy via Game Pass as it completely defeats the object of Game Pass.

For me, when it comes to the indie stuff (Lonely Mountains Downhill for example) I much prefer playing them on Switch handheld (I am a handheld gamer at heart) I tried LMD on GP and really liked it so it’ll be a purchase on Switch for sure.

I may re-sub to the service when new first party games come out, for that it’s brilliant value.

The Switch is just naturally my go to system too, just too good for picking up and playing a few mins here or there regardless of where in the house you are, it’s probably part of the reason I’m torn between 3 years of GPU or not as I might not play it enough (Switch titles dependant of course) but then it’s just bonkers value, even without the upgrade. As you mentioned too, it’s an amazing service for trying new games, Outer Wilds being a prime example for myself as I thought it looked and sounded really intriguing but when I got around to loading it up I pretty much hated it!

If anyone wants it I have an amazon code that discounts 3 months of Ultimate to just £20.
I suggest any new person does the free upgrade for £1 first but for anyone who's already done that this may be a bargain.

PM me.

I got it as a benefit for buying the XSX but don't need it.

Jedi fallen order has been the perfect example of why Gamepass is worth it for me.

It's a game I would have bought, and it's really quite bad. Strip away the Star Wars theme and you have a shonky hard to control adventure game, with stupid long routes around boring environments and plenty of filler. Plus dull unlikeable characters and an uninteresting story.

Pressing delete after a few hours filled me with much joy.

On the other hand Pikuniku was a lovely few hours of humour and fun. Full of character and lovely to play.

Then dip into Rare replay, and realise some of the games I hated (Grabbed by the Ghoulies) weren't actually that bad. Whereas some I loved (snake rattle n roll) really don't hold up. Even if you play each for 10 minutes and find only one you like to play longer... that's still not a bad deal for nothing.

I'm going to play Control next and not be too bothered if I don't like it, because there are options. But if I do like it, I might buy it. I'm tending to want to buy games I like on GP so I can keep em.

What I mainly hope is, given they'll be tracking all this data, they make games accessible and fun for newcomers in the first few hours so people stay with them rather than giving up. That's what Nintendo have always been great at, but very few other developers are.

The inclusion of Ubisoft+ in Game Pass would be incred but, according to Pure Xbox, there is currently no real substance in this rumour. But, yeah, it would be marvellous if it where to be true!

It’s unlikely. Game Pass for PC is £7.99 per month. Ubisoft+ is £12.99.

I agree if they did it it'll be a new service more like EA Play where you just get old games and maybe trials as well for new games.

Would make sense if it was more like EA Play than EA Play Pro.

The wife and I booted up PHOGS! the other day, and we were very pleased with it!

It's very cute co-op puzzle/platform game where you each play as one of two heads on a weird conjoined dog noodle, a la CatDog. Lots of focus on grabbing onto things with one head and stretching out with the other to solve puzzles, like using your body as a hosepipe to water plants that will grow into platforms, etc.

Very very cute, with a non-zero chance of spiralling into "No, this way- no, let go of tha- no don't jump off-" "Stop shouting at m-" "I'm not shouting!"

Probably best in small doses.
