Feel free to laugh at me when you manage to get £50 off a Microsoft tablet or whatever, even if it takes you 27 years to do it ;)

Actually, it will take 6 months maximum, possibly less.

Imagine actually weighing up the pittance microsoft toss you for taking part in their psychological manipulation into habit forming behaviour as part of a serious benefit against the outlay of the system cost.

Rewards points over a year can earn about the same as £15K would in most ISAs.....

In all honesty, the less people do it, the less chance there is of Microsoft withdrawing it/ reducing the value further, so yes, it's a waste of time.

It’s certainly not a waste of time if you’re happy to tick the daily tasks off as you do them as it will rack up over time, but as I said it’s not for everyone and definitely not for me.

I wonder what the Venn diagram for "devoted to completing Microsoft Rewards" and "Have received the Bill Gates 5G COVID vaccine" looks like... :P

Away from the bizarre world of Microsoft fun bucks, I think I'm going to switch from ultimate game pass back to regular games pass once my current time is up. The streaming to android is nice, but the lag is still noticeable enough to be frustrating over WiFi, and it's also disappointing that progress on the cloud version of a game doesn't seem to carry over to the PC version, or at least not consistently, I'm sure a few games on there must have cross platform cloud saves. I assume it's because the streaming versions are running on a console somewhere and so they're a different version than the PC ones.

Maybe once the in browser streaming goes live, I'll switch back, so I can play them on an ethernet connected PC, and at least do away with the lag, when I want to play something but I'm not fussed about having it on my machine locally.

Was GTA V coming to Game Pass known or is it news today?

Yeah Android streaming has been fun to play around with and on certain games it's a decent enough way to play, but overall the input lag is still too much of an issue to make me interested in using it in a serious capacity. I'm sure browser support for streaming was coming in "spring" so hopefully we haven't got long to wait to see what the experience is like there.

Not needing to wait to download and install things is definitely a big plus point

When I was using the Rewards app on the Xbox it was incredibly easy to rack up the points - especially if you were playing the advertised games. I would earn points just by unlocking achievements. I barely paid anything for GamePass the entire time I was using it.

If you're using Bing search anyway on your phone or PC you're also not doing anything different than you normally would. Well, apart from using Bing over Google...not that I found anything particularly wrong with Bing though, to be fair.

That's a pretty good feature. Designed to hook you into the ecosystem, so it's the one place you and your friends play obvs. It's either evil or darn convenient depending on your point of view.

With MS rewards, it's obvious that's what they're trying to do. I've spent the odd idle few minutes for a lot of days completing these tasks. Probably adding up to a good few hours in total.

It wasn't unenjoyable, and some of them were worth doing, taught me how to use a feature or play a few games I wouldn't have tried otherwise. Then I got bored with it, and just check in quests every now and again.

That said, I think if you've a compulsive personality, it's probably not for you. You could get a paper route instead.

And how dare they remove NHL 19 before I've even finished 18?

I'll have no idea of the plot by the time I get round to 20.

gamerforever wrote:I just go to microsoft rewards every morning, do the searches and logon to the game pass app and usually get an achievement or two for another easy 50, so thats roughly over 200 per day, plus you get the streak bonuses. Let's say 250 per day, which is 91250 per annum and you can get at least 7 months worth of game pass ultimate from that. You will likely earn double that, due to monthly bonuses etc, so you should be able to get at least one months sub every month for free. I don't see myself buying too many games for series x and am hoping a lot of multiplatform games come to game pass, which will save me at least £50 per game. The series x and game pass are great value, even for people who have a ps5 and is the main reason I got it. Microsoft will reward game pass early adoptors for the first 3 years at least and once they have over 70 million subscribers they will slowly increase the price, which would probably still be a deal. At the moment, its a crazy deal, especially for those like me, who didn't get an xbox last generation and have a lot of games to play. Even something like Ori, which I wanted to play, saves me over £40 having to buy them on the nintendo switch.

See, we told you Xbox was better than PlayStation.
