Never played an Obsidian game (had to look them up), but if ther s talent there in need of funding them this could turn out to be a good thing.

This is all setting up for the next gen Xbox isn’t it? None of the newly bought teams will have anything out on XBone at this point

They are building a strong collection of teams though, makes them look more appealing for next gen.

Next Gen + higher budget + Google/Amazon. Slight chance of a Ninja Theory game coming first to XB1 although technically with xCloud everything will be coming to XB1 probably.

Wasn’t psychonauts 2 crowdfunded and now microsoft have bought double fine? Don’t see this as a major deal, but at least microsoft will have a decent exclusive platformer.

Psychonauts 2 is still coming out for the platforms it was announced for.

After that they'll be exclusive to the Xbox Platform across Consoles, PC and where ever xCloud sends your games to.

With the addition of Double Fine, there will be a total of 15 unique, standalone studios that comprise Xbox Game Studios, including our newly-created Age of Empires studio headed by Shannon Loftis and our Publishing group headed by Peter Wyse. We are committing more resources and dedicated leadership to the Age of Empires franchise to ensure that its legacy on PC continues in service of the passionate community of faithful fans.

I’m proud of the 14 games we showcased from Xbox Game Studios today – the most we’ve ever had in our E3 briefing. We have the full depth and breadth of talent in our studios focused on creating new games for Xbox players, and we’re committed to making them great.

Following news that Microsoft has acquired Psychonauts 2 developer Double Fine Productions, now-former Psychonauts 2 publisher Starbreeze has announced that it assigned the game’s publishing rights to Microsoft in exchange for $13.2 million.

Starbreeze originally picked up the publishing rights for Psychonauts 2 in 2017 with a commitment to invest $8 million in the game's development.
