Just on the BBC website and came across this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/7598549.stm

So, how do you find this? Do you find that you get along better with people of the same music taste? Do you think this is shoehorning people a bit much? There a nice little table at the bottom as well that lets you seem what personality traits go hand in hand with particular music preference. I find it quite interesting that only two have low self esteem attached to them, though.

The tiny little picture on the metal bit is James Hetfield. 8-)

I tend to get along with people regardless, as long as they are good people anyway. Then later i find out their music tastes. :|

How many gentle metalheads have you ever met? Although I'd say the category I probably belong in suits me to a tee, I like music from almost all of those categories, and the categories are not in any way wide enough.

That's what I was thinking. I know my music taste isn't that wide since I don't really listen that much Soul, Reggae, Jazz or Blues, but I don't just listen to one of the others named.

I do like how they say people who are into chart music aren't creative though.

Yeah, I saw that this morning. Interesting, but ultimately flawed.

I like almost all styles of music, so according to that survey I must be some kind of schizophrenic monster.

Also, the choices are very limited, showing Professor North's relative ignorance: no Electronic music category, for example. More than that, however, it fails to take into consideration to what extent artists within particular genres can differ from each other in their style. I love certain Classical composers like Mozart, Sibelius, and Prokofiev, yet detest listening to others like Chopin and Debussy.

Not good enough. Try again, Prof.

Actually, virtually all of them. All the metalheads I know are gentle giants, wouldn't harm a fly.

I love hanging around with people with all different music tastes, being part of the rave circus you have to put up with some really bad music, like psy-trance and funky house, you can't hold it against them, you just have to make jokes about it, like they do about the music we play.

Suppose you could run around with a cape on and with a ghetto blaster over your shoulder following him everywhere playing electronic music. Give him different songs for different events. That'll show him for missing you out.

I like a number of different styles of music, which seem to be in direct contradiction with each other...

I tend to find that with people who listen to simular music to you, you end up having simular common grounds, like films and games, it may just be coincidence, but with all the people i have known so far, it hasn't proven me wrong.

Low self-esteem, creative, not hard-working, not outgoing, gentle, at ease

That sums me up, just nicely.

Edit* hmm, actually thinking about it not outgoing is a bit of a hmmmm, for me, I will be outgoing when i am with friends of the same tastes or for a gig, but i wont be outgoing here where all it is, is R+B groups.
