I like to dabble in photoshop. I thought I'd just post what I do here randomly. Don't lock or delete. Pics coming soon. I'm actually doing something right now as well.

so anyway, this was a little project I started to make a poster for my friend. It's quite a hassle since I found it so hard to get a hold of pictures of everyone I wanted to be in the picture. I was also going for a specific look and feel to the poster, which was that I wanted everyone to be grinning or making an expression showing joy or enjoyment of something. Needless to say that some pictures weren't expressing anything other than a shitty smile because retards on facebook delete any pictures they don't like of themselves and leave hundreds of pictures that they approve of which have the same look as each other.

Well anyway, I won't post everyones picture since it's still not finalised but here's some of the people I've thrown in to the work:

Image

See now I didn't bother cutting everyone properly, there's no point. I'm going to be layering on top of those pictures anyway. The person I was making this for is the girl on the bottom left. I really like that picture of her on the project; she did have her arm out extended as if to say "these are my friends" but I didn't think I needed the arm as her expression and the size of her on the project was big enough to imply it.

See now after that I decided to start doing some vector bullshit, with the pen tool and the colour choosing thing tool. I don't know but I ended up with this:

Image

See now that vector stuff on top of her is no where near finished. Most of the time I can't see the grand picture if I'm sober, so I've been doing this when sober at times and then at other times I do it when I'm a little different. More and more detail has been added to it, but I'll update the next shot when I finalise a few more things. Each of them there will be vectored. It's a time consuming process, no doubt the easiest part though. I find it hard to choose colours though, and I don't have steady hands at all, it gives the picture a bloody childlike look which annoys me, but that's one of the reasons also why I do the picture when I'm a little non-sober, I have a much steadier hand then.

If I had to say what the hardest part was, then I'd say it's vectoring the hair. Even in my head I find it hard to visualise what it should look like, I mean photoshop is all automatic, so whatever I see in my head, photoshop practically does more than half of it on its own, but when it comes to the hair, I tend to struggle as I can't really see it in my head either on what it should look like.

Also you'll note that there's a few really low quality pictures there or some small ones there that I've stretched. The problem that I would have had with these pictures is the colours, not the low quality, I can actually just add detail in even if the pciture is stretched out but when I'm choosing colours like skin colour, I've got other pictures of them I can refer to, to get a more accurate colour that I'd like to use. So even if the picture on the canvas is washed out or in black and white, having a second picture of someone will help you get a reference for colours and you can just use that second picture to pick colours.

When it's finished will everyone look like the girl in the bottom left? Looks pretty cool so far - how long did it take you to cut out the pictures of everyone? I remember I tried to do it for one girl and it took me ages to separate her hair from the whole of the background.

I'm trying to get as much done as possible so the initial messy looking templates that I've put up will look miles behind what the finished product is. I've actually not had that much time to do it all. I'm working on two at the same time.

Yes, lots of asian friends. In London, the minority race is probably white. I don't think there is any white friends that I can add to that picture at all actually, I can't think of any friends of hers that are white at all. Penryhn road Kingston uni barely has any white folks at all.

And yes DD, when it's done, the art style will look like her. It's easy to get the basics done, but adding in detail is that hard part unfortunately. Like the hair. I'd like to make the hair more detailed but I suck at vector art.

lol and yes the dog is strawberry floating awesome.

Will update soon.

You're there in spirit. See that white background? It represents how the white race takes a back-seat in priority.

If you have adobe illustrator, creating a vector in that would be better as its more geared towards illustrations. Although you do have to learn how to use the pen tool. but with a bit of practise and time you'll get some half decent results. I did these awhile back, mostly vectors done in illustrator and the last one was finished off in photoshop.
