There were some HD rereleases on XBL arcade.. But that doesn't sound right.

Such a crying shame we only had the DS re-release for DKR, which while I still enjoyed is pretty heavily flawed. Also I want to play as pre-corruption cutesy Conker again D':

No, it's not, not sure if Rubix is getting mixed up with Banjo Kazooie which is part of Rare Replay?

Yeah I did, sorry to make people excited for a second :fp:

2D SNES graphics have a cartoon timelessness, PS1 and N64 not so much. However I bought an N64 at launch and have special memories of playing GoldenEye, Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing multiplayer with mates for years. If Nintendo sort out a deal with Microsoft to include Diddy Kong then I will probably buy it!

It's just a shame that Goldeneye will only ever be possible on it through hacking. As far as I know the game is stuck in licensing hell now.

I was at uni when it came out and it got a lot of play time back then. Perhaps I just became sick of it. Always found the controls to be a bit fudgy. :shifty:

Without those Rare games I don't see this selling well at all.

That coupled with the fact that it only sold 32 million (2/3 being in the USA) as opposed to NES (60 million) and SNES (50 million), I just don't think there's enough nostalgia out there to make this a hit.

Really? As much as I loved Rare's output on the N64, Nintendo themselves put out some stonking games.

GoldenEye, Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64 and Diddy Kong Racing are 4 of the best selling games on the system, these are games most former N64 owners are nostalgic about.

Similar to the PS Classic, they have to focus on the best selling games like Final Fantasy VII and Tekken 3.

32 million potential customers, plus all of those people that missed out at the time and are curious about the games that they have heard about.

How many did the NES and SNES minis sell? 4-5 million? I don’t think Nintendo will need to sell many N64 minis to be able to class it as a success. 2 or 3 million and Nintendo will be happy enough even if it doesn't sell quite as well as the NES/SNES.

Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Ocarina of Time, Super Smash Bros, Pokémon Stadium and Star Fox all say hello.

Those might be the best selling games, but if you ask most people about Nintendo games from the late 90s, they will say Mario/Mario Kart, Pokemon and Zelda.

And I would imagine Nintendo own the rights to the Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong games.

I don't know about Duddy Kong, but you think they would with Donkey Kong 64, Rare did Country and that was on the SNES Mini.

DKR had Rare created characters including Conker.

I'm still convinced that Nintendo and MS have came to some arrangement behind closed doors.

If they've not then the N64 Mini loses a huge chunk of its best games right off the bat. Rare have arguably never been on better form than they were on the N64 and those games are every bit as essential to the N64's identity as Mario and Zelda. To not have them there would be a massive disappointment.
