Need to get my copy. I completed the original 3 times, and managed to get all the pig noise done too. I loved the demo to this, Minamimoto is one of my favourite characters from the original and I want to know more of his story and what he's up to, so I need to get my copy ASAP. Will probably play it once I've completed MHS2 though first!

Minamimoto being one of the best characters is a correct opinion, and anyone who disagrees is a factoring hectopascal.

Or prefer characters who have more to them than just math jargon as slang and a very loose idea about art

I did, but I'm not too interested in them, Sho Minamimoto is just brilliance and I want to know what he's doing there.

Was the first one worth playing on Switch even with the controls?

ah you have a fondness for characters who do nothing but cause problems for the main characters

If you haven't played it before then mmmmmmmmaybe? I bounced right off trying to replay it on Switch. It just felt like everything that was special on the first playthrough was gone.

Did not expect to enjoy the demo as much as I did. To anyone who has played it, is the map much larger than it's possible to access in the demo?

Much belated, but I've finally got this as a birthday gift, and - it feels goooooood.

It's more TWEWY. Sometimes, especially when games in a series come out close together, you want them to do something different. Sometimes you don't. I really thought (before playing the demo. anyway) that TWEWY would be one of those games where it had to do something interesting and different, but turns out that I just wanted more TWEWY. That sense of style in HD, that soundtrack playing through the telly speakers, Sho Minamimoto returning... The fact that it's not reinventing the wheel, the fact that it's not doing something super-different and interesting with the hardware, these are things I didn't actually need. Just let me slash up a big old music bear with rabbit-themed pins and I'm happy.

Fun fact: I didn't realise until NEO TWEWY that the brands are all themed after Chinese zodiac animals. Nice touch!

Played the trial through last night, will hopefully get the full game tomorrow!

It's so insanely stylish. The fixed camera angles are great themselves, but the way the buildings warp in perspective as you move around is just wonderful.

Settled on English va after trying both out

This game is exactly what a TWEWY sequel needed to be. The music, the backgrounds, the character designs, the UI aesthetic. It takes everything I loved about the original and goes even further beyond.

Plus, it does away with the only real problem I had: that garbage control scheme. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely unique, and I'll argue to the death that the remakes are worse off for removing the top screen. But god, it was rough to actually play.

This, though? When you find that combination of pins that gels together just right, juggling enemies with constant beatdrop combos? *Chef's kiss*

I do have one issue though, that concerns big ol' spoilers for Day 7 and beyond:
I was really happy to see the returning characters from the previous game, all with their nice slick new designs that really convey the three-year timeskip.

However there's one character who bothered me, and that's Beat. They built up a particular character's return with Day 7's cliffhanger, only to pull the rug out and reveal it was actually Beat in disguise.

I'll admit the clues were definitely there in the form of some key outfit details, but it just feels to me that they made all these drastic changes to his design just to try and hide the big twist.

So did I, mostly for nostalgia for the DS title - but most of the English voice actors are really pretty good! Bravely Default 2 take note.

I'm coming up on the end here. I think. My completion percentage is still in the 50s, but I'm guessing there's a chunky postgame to be had. I have found some flaws: difficulty spikes in the 'mind dives', repetition of the rather dull turf war mission, and in general a lack of ambition to do much beyond 3D-ifying the series. Then again, given how far away 3D-ifying the series seemed a while ago, it seems a bit churlish to complain about that!

And the battling is so good. I agree with CM on this: everyone raved about TWEWY's dual-screen battling, but I absolutely couldn't pay attention to both screens and found half the pins really hard to operate. (Granted, time bombs are still bobbins.)

The battle system does seem like it will be good, obviously I've not seen many pins or characters yet!

Also chapter 2 character MKN - who dresses entirely in orange - felt coincidentally weirdly close to my username
