NEO: The World Ends with You transports players to the streets of the Shibuya, where they will take part in the “Reapers’ Game,” a life-or-death battle for survival. Players will take on the role of Rindo as they explore the heart of Tokyo to uncover the mysteries behind the sinister Game in which they have been forced to take part.

NEO: The World Ends with You brings a re-creation of modern Shibuya to life in a unique and comic-inspired style. Players can explore and enjoy the sights, sounds, and culture of this bustling city, fight monsters alongside their ally companions in fast-paced action battles, and complete missions as they seek to change the fate they’ve been handed.

An actual proper sequel! Guess the ports must have sold better than I thought...

Thank you to everyone who bought the iOS and Switch ports because I certainly didn't

Might consider checking this one out. Missed the original and I'm not exactly enthralled with what I've heard of the port's controls. Every possibility I do go that original before this new one, especially if there's a sale on for Black Friday.

Also, if we were still doing yearly playtime threads, would we have already needed to enact the TWEWY rule, or would that come with this newest release?

If you have a DS/3DS I definitely recommend playing the original, it's just made for the dual screens. I prefer the visuals too, it's only the music that's objectively worse for being compressed (but it's still great). The impression I got of the added content for the Switch port was that it was relatively inconsequential. Please no one correct me on that so I don't have to play it :shifty:

The first one still holds strong as one of my all-time favourite games, in part as it utilises the DS hardware and features so thoroughly. That trailer looks slick and stylish, the least to expect from TWEWY, but I'd really hope to see similar exploration of the Switch's features. I'd say it's doubtful though, given it also coming to PS4.

On one screen and with its innovation no longer innovative, and without the surprises and twists of the plot to discover, I didn’t get beyond the third chapter. I do notice that the character that appeared in the added content crops up in the NEO trailer though.

Well, I've still got all the handhelds kicking around somewhere, but it's not like they get any use. I even bought Fossil Fighters: Frontier to try and get me back into playing but that only lasted one play. After the Switch, I just couldn't get comfortable holding it again.

We can only hope that, especially as it's coming to PS4 too, you really don't need to have played it. Or even the first game at all to be honest, I definitely don't remember most of the plot points!

Of course what will actually happen is it will turn out you need to have played all of Kingdom Hearts in order to follow the plot :toot:

This game is actually what was hinted at with the ending of Kingdom Hearts 3, and Sora has been sucked into the game. His meeting with Neku and the others of the first game branded him with the mark, but because he still had a job to do in defeating Xehanort the game was unable to pull him in. With Xehanort's defeat, he was pulled in, surprising all those around him. As Kairi and the others try to find him, Sora now finds himself trapped in modern Shibuya. However, a new terror has arisen in the world of Kingdom Hearts, and now the game has pulled Sora in, it refuses to let him go. The new character of NEO has also arrived in Shibuya from the Kingdom Hearts world, and now needs to find Sora, destroy the mechanics of the game, and get Sora back to defeat this new evil with the skills they have learned within Shibuya.

And in true Kingdom Hearts fashion, these events will only be referenced in a flashback that only gives the smallest hint at the adventures that were had.

I have a new number one desire for this game; to have absolutely zero association with Kingdom Hearts.

I never finished TWEWY even though I loved it, I think I got to the final boss and just kept getting strawberry floated. Will need to replay it.

The name, I agree, has a big ol’ dash of the Wii Us about it. If I saw it uninformed in a shop I’d think it was an enhanced edition of the port.

Will likely end up replaying the original before this is released. Would potentially be my 8th playthrough.

Fantastic news, I really enjoyed the original on Switch but the controls put me off. Might try and find a copy of the DS original.

This got a demo. on Friday. Any takers? Very very first thoughts, as in i haven't even got to a battle yet: it looks and sounds exactly how I'd want a sequel to TWEWY to look and sound, and Fret can shove off.
