Looks like rumours have been circulating about this for a little while but it's now seemingly been confirmed,

twitter.com/RE_Wiki/status/1225907421433847808

There aren't many details yet, but it's sounding like it will be set in its own continuity and may not features characters from the games, but original characters instead, though no confirmed details yet,

Netflix have since removed the entry from their Database though.

From reading around, 8 episodes of 1 hour each in length are currently planned and filming will be starting in May/June, completing in October, taking place in South Africa.

Does anyone really want this? I love Resident Evil games more than anything but this sounds awful.

The "Arklay" series that was being worked on a few years ago had a pretty good Proof of Concept,

I want it to be good, but knowing Netflix, it probably won't be.

Or they have, and that's why they think that.

Just adapt the first game as an action horror movie. Why is this so strawberry floating difficult to understand?

This ffs. No idea why every Resi adaptation MUST go out of its way to have almost nothing to do with the games.

Yes its pace was fairly glacial but it’s a decent watch, even if you know nothing about the source material.

The rumours are going that this is going to be more horror focused and be based around the discovery of the T-Virus and an initial outbreak.
So like a series about the fall of Raccoon City.

Basing it in the streets of Racoon City ala Resident Evil 2 and 3 makes the most sense to me for an episodic drama.

Even that would be a large improvement - I don't mind TV shows taking liberties with the game story because it's all very flimsy but the complete departure and varying-degrees-of-turd Paul W. S. Anderson films just make me sad.

What I'd really like to see is a four episode mini-series documenting the outbreak in the Arklay Mountains. You could structure it like:

Episode 1 - mysterious murders in the mountain, S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team have gone AWOL after an investigation, Alpha team mobilise and get to the mansion at the end.

Episode 2 - Brad Vickers strawberry floats off, the surviving Alpha team members are separated within the mansion - Barry and Jill, Chris and Wesker. They explore the mansion and find it full of bizarre traps, and Chris disappears. The giant snake arrives and Jill kills it.

Episode 3 - Wesker regroups with Barry and Jill, everybody splits up to find a way out of the mansion. Jill stumbles across Bravo's Enrico Marini on the grounds, he's killed by a gunshot wound after warning her of a traitor in the S.T.A.R.S. team. She finds the lab, and is ambushed by Barry on Wesker's orders as she enters.

Episode 4 - Basically the game's lab sequence. Wesker's outed as the villain, Barry and Jill fight the Tyrant and rescue Chris, Vickers un-fucks off and everybody escapes. Wesker's fate is uncertain to set up future series. The mini-series ends with a lone zombie encroaching on a suburb of Raccoon City. A ten episode proper series follows, intertwining Jill's Resident Evil 3 experience and Leon/Claire's Resident Evil 2 experience.

Bosh, there it is.

I can see this just being a retread of Walking Dead if they aren't careful. I say they go the whole hog, capture the feel of the original, original game which was supposed to be like a B movie like Night of the Living Dead. I want cheesy lines, and minimal CGI etc.
