Just watched the 1st episode. I thought the sword fights in the trailer looked shite, but I've never been so happy to be proved wrong.

Really good, looking forward to watching the rest.

Nothing about the first episode is really doing much for me. The colour grading seems like a real botch job and Cavill seems to be putting all his effort into the voice and forgetting to act. Though in W3 Geralt is extremely deadpan so maybe that’s what he’s gone for.

I’m onto episode 3, so far I’m enjoying it. My experience of the universe is very limited though, only played about 10 hours of TW3.

I found that when I was watching it the colours seemed to jump around all the time, wasn’t sure if it was just me or not, sounds like it wasn’t. Slightly annoying, thought it might have been when Geralt was meant to be using his Witcher Sense to begin with but I’m not sure now.

Finished this after I got home from work today, on the whole I thought it was fantastic. One thing I’d have liked is for a location or date span when it jumps around the various stories in one episode as it’d have made it a lot easier to keep track when first starting it, after a few episodes this wasn’t as annoying but I reckon it could be for some people.

Finished it recently Hm/10

Not really, thought it was excellent. Not sure how much reading The Last Wish and playing Witcher 3 on Switch at roughly the same time contributed to my enjoyment of it because it does adapt that book particularly well. Cavill is excellent as Geralt, Yen is very good (and also unbelievably hot) and I thought Dandelion was also top notch. Only disappointment was Triss not being as hot and red head as she should be.

Triss was the only weak link in this. I thought she was an awful actress with little to no warmth or presence. Apart from that, I couldn't have been happier with this series. I can't wait for the next one, I want it now.

Couldn't make it past the first episode. Henry Cavil is a terrible actor and this is boring.

I'm loving this. I'm really surprised at how good it turned out.

I've not had much time to binge watch this so it's taking me a while to get through it. I'm up to episode 5 now and in general I'd say I'm really enjoying it!

There are certainly some rough edges - a few cases where casting may have been better (Triss for one), each episode has areas where dialogue and pacing could have done with some tightening up, some of the CGI is a bit ropey etc. but most of that can be easily overlooked because the package as a whole stands up really well.

Looking forward to watching the back half of episodes now!

I’m almost completely unfamiliar with the source material and I don’t really watch much TV so I may not be the best judge of such things but I watched the first 2 episodes of this while staying with family over Christmas and rather enjoyed it.

I’m actually tempted to re-subscribe to Netflix to watch the rest.

Finished today. I did get to the point that I didn't know what the strawberry float was going on with the main story line but episode 7 pulled it all together nicely. Really enjoyed it, might watch it again once I've played The Witcher 3.

There is a really horrible review of this on the BBC, it's written a bit like the Forbes TRoS one in that the writer seems to think because the show isn't made for their personal enjoyment and taste that they need to write a snarky, petulant, nasty piece that just makes them look like a bit of a dick.

Yeah, I read that article too. The Witcher's a million times better than a lot of the dross served up on the BBC recently.

Not too sure how I feel about the BBC attempting to trash competitor platforms & network's shows like this, on their main homepage. If the Witcher had been made for the BBC and aired there instead of Netflix, you just know they'd have an article gathering all the good reviews instead, slapping themselves on the back about how great it is.

Just watched episode 4, and what the strawberry float is up with the timeline?

Even though we've been cutting back and forth between Ciri and Geralt's stories, as though they were happening at the same time, they were actually happening years apart? And between episode 3 and 4, 30 years seems to have passed in Yennefer's story, so I guess those moments aren't "meanwhile" either?

Yen- Far past
Geralt- Recent past
Ciri- Present

In episode 1 Renfri mentions that Ciri's grandmother just won a battle that she tells Ciri happened years ago.

I've only watched as far as episode 4 so far myself and I've not had much trouble deciphering the timeline stuff.

It seems to have confused a lot of people from reading reviews and comments online which has surprised me as I really don't think there is anything that complex or confusing going on?

I think having history with the game and/or novels really helps with the timeline of the series. I think if you're going in completely cold then I can understand the confusion.

Going to watch episode 1 of this on my lunch break. I've been knee-deep in Witcher 3 goodness recently so hopefully this just adds to my love of the universe (my only exposure to it thus far been through the third game, not played the others or read any of the books).

Also pleased to hear that Yennefer is hot :shifty:

I don't think I really registered that, or just assumed she was talking about the battle with Nilfgaard that you see at the start.

Episode 4 was the first point at which I realised they even were on different timeliness, which is what confused me, up until that point I'd assumed all the stories were concurrent, because of the way it cuts between them like they're all happening at the same time.

Now I know they are, I understand where they're all happening, I think, except where Yennefer's story is, as it doesn't seem to have linked up with the others yet. It was just more of a surprise when I suddenly realised that episode 4 of Geralt's story is happening years before Ciri's story in episode 1.
