I couldn't help but think of Karl Pilkington when they showed that chimpanzee wearing a T-shirt.

Saber toothed tigers were definitely not around 360 million years ago. That's 100 million years before dinosaurs appeared That's a good way to start their genetic experimentations.

Breeding a Sabertooth

Quality documentary. The chimp owners were strawberry floating mental, I would have gone no where near that bigger one, totally irresponsible to let something like that wander about freely.

I didn't quite catch the sabre-tooth tiger bit-how were they going to do it?

I dunno, as much as I don't like the idea of caged animals, they do have a point about breeding the rare ones for conservation.

Sticking a tiger and a lion in a cage and leaving them to it, I think.

I've got 2 different lizards in my garage, gonna leave them to it and hopefully if my science is right we'll have a velociraptor in a few weeks.

Jo Exotic was a good guy who cared for the animals and looked after them. The others were strawberry floating mentalists.

I thought they were going to selectively cross breed the various large cats they have there until they end up with something resembling the old sabre-tooth. Like they'd keep breeding the tigers with the largest fangs with the most agile leopards and so on.

Don't see how they can realistically be successful with that without having a few thousand individual beasts and at least 10 generations time, but whatever. Plus they'd end up with a new species of feline, not the real sabre-tooth.

Or maybe they found some real sabre-tooth DNA and want to inject it into a zygote or something.

One minor flaw in their plan is I think a lot of cross breeding produces infertile offspring....

Genetics aren't really a hill billy's strong point.

He was more carrying on because he was 'rescuing' the animals from other owners. I don't agree with private owners but I don't think he should get a bad rep or hassled by PETA.

He was breeding them because he can make most money from them when they're young.

If it was a sanctuary and it was purely for rescuing animals he wouldn't be breeding them at all.

And of course he should get a bad rep from PETA-they're clearly not kept in good conditions.
