I actually went there when it was properly open and it was actually pretty neat (1994 i think).

We have the same sort of development proposals over here but for a shopping, lifestyle centre etc. They never seem to actually happen. It takes strawberry floating forever, same for the cinema, the skatepark, the premier inn.

The investors and brands attached change incessantly while the whole thing is wrapped up in red tape and the number spin around.

It looks bloody awful anyway, like living in some strawberry floated up dream with random "iconic" to shows smashed together; a dystopian vision of what would happen if there were shops for every tv programme on the high street and bronze statues of characters from Emmerdale in the streets.

By the time it's signed off they can probably 3D print the whole thing and shut it down after 6 months.

I must admit i was disappointed when Paramount pulled out, would have loved to have gone to a movie themed park like that, especially considering how much i enjoy the Harry Potter studio tour.

I think you're right. The repeated appeals to the press has awoken this thread which counts as a PR exercise. They will sell that as successfully generating "buzz" to investors.

That said where are the Nintendo/Bandai theme parks in Japan (or was it in partnership with Universal)? That's a first party funded effort, not some giant cheeseball of tantalising TV franchises. How long historically do these things actually take to get off the ground?

Tbh glad this isn't happening. I don't get theme parks like universal studios or even Disney tbh
Just so fake and I don't see the appeal of them.
But like someone said here for me it would have to be about the rides only. I'm not bothered about the fake streets and parades.

I think i'd enjoy disneyland, would be nice to go to the Paris one at some point.

It's not like when i went to Holland and came back with a dozen pairs of mini clogs.

Nintendo land is opening in Japan next year... Not sure elsewhere but people are undecided if Florida will go into the Studios park or a brand new one...
