I saw a facebook post earlier suggesting it should be Margaret Thatcher.

The design has been updated and is now even more reflective of the spirit of Maggie.

Surprised Lovelace isn't getting more love. Computers have changed pretty much everything about modern life and she was an integral part of that journey.

A good decision, for once.

Very rare you see the "currency of corrupt elites, of crime of all sorts and of tax evasion" in the wild. Last time I used one the person on the till spent bloody ages inspecting it.

Great that they're honouring Turing, considering how much he did for a country.

Turing deserves the honour. I hope it people will always remember him, as a hero and a brilliant mind, and also as a gay man harassed to suicide by an unjust, bigoted government. His story is really important in so many ways.

Of the candidates I would have perhaps preferred Rosalind Franklin though.

EDIT: Or Ada Lovelace of course, I kinda forgot she was in the pool but she would have also been a good choice.

They must be really torn. On the one hand Turing was a war hero and wasn’t a woman. But the gammons will not be pleased to have a gay man on banknotes.

They probably don't realise he was gay.

Also why are they called 'gammons' IDGI.

It’s the way their faces turn red when they get angry.
