The only scrolling I will accept is the scrolling the game automatically does to centre on Mario.

I must point out that if the entire level takes place on just one screen no scrolling will ever take place.

Wasn't this pointed out last time and we had a whole discussion on it? Honestly can't remember how that went.

Anyway, I'm happy to see this return (although I was hoping for a twist of some sort).

Hey guys.

Having some issues with OBS (Made the mistake of updating it didn't I) and now it won't stream or record. Looking into the issue just now, but might be a little bit later than planned (Quelle suprise).

I'll keep you all updated.

Still no joy so far. Have had to perform a driver update and I'm restarting the pc now, which is always slow. If I can't get it working before 10 I'll do the stream tomorrow at 8pm.

And nope it's still screwed. I'm gonna delay the stream till tomorrow at this time. Apologies for this. Let the moral of the story be that you shouldn't update anything that's working exactly as you need it to.

Stream will take place tomorrow night at 8pm. Cheers guys.

Thanks guys. Again, apologies for last night. Was my own fault as I shouldn't have updated the bloody thing.

Anyway, we are on track for 8pm tonight!

Just checking, you mean no WARP pipes, not no pipes? As in, can we have pipes that drop enemies, items etc?

I, too, was surprised that 'Chipz missed out this week. The course was tough - really, really tough - but there were some clever ideas and obviously a lot of effort put into it. I think the standard was generally high across the board this week and the difference in quality between many of the courses was, in my view, minimal. Hopefully Chipz will bounce back during this One Screen Wonder week.

Have to be honest, I thought this one was up with some of MY personal best levels in terms of pacing and design, and once you get the rhythm it’s actually pretty straight forward (although designed to reward repeated deaths in a keep working at it and you’ll get it kind of way) so a little dissapointed with my scoring this week. But I guess it highlights that what seems like a great idea to you won’t nessecerally come out that way if someone has a different style to you. One thing is clear though, I have some ground to make up, so will be considering my next move carefully.

But, I don’t enter this comp to win, I enter it because I love playing through people’s levels each week, and we have some seen some great levels already. congrats to Lime for the win and I look forward to next weeks levels :D

Personally I find one of the toughest aspects of creating a course is to judge the difficulty level. Most of you guys seem to be pretty good and know all of the moves for Mario in each of the game themes (NES, SNES, Wii etc). It's hard to create something that is challenging but playable for all players. Even so, it's fun to try :) .

I'm struggling for inspiration with the One Screen course this week. Played around a bit but haven't got anything to gel yet.... will re-visit it this evening!

That's one of the great things about Cheeky running this competition.... he has the mad skillz - I don't think he's been beaten yet.
I can imagine if I tried to host, it would potentially be a never ending stream.....once confronted with a 'wall jump chimney' I am seriously done for.

(I know 'how' to do it - I'm just fairly sure my Wii U is broken and cannot register the moves I intend :shifty: ).

Simple fix: Make a basic practice level. Have a sequence of chimneys you have to climb, and then have a
Play this basic practice level I made for you: CD84-0000-0392-FBB1

It's a sequence of chimneys starting 3-blocks wide and going all the way up to 5-blocks wide. It starts off easy and risk-free and gets just a little bit tricky towards the end.

Key things:
Wait until you see Mario start sliding down the wall before jumping. After you get the hang of that you can try jumping earlier.
Make sure you're pushing the d-pad/stick towards the wall you want to jump from.
Practice! Practice! Practice! You will get the hang of it!
