Well, it took me near enough ten to reach that point, but I expect it could be done in about six by skilled experts.

Technically you can attempt final boss after 1hour as its open ended. Personally I'm all about the orbs and cleaning up all the various factions. I've also put it at 1 above normal difficulty. Getting around is nearly as much fun as sunset overdrive after a few agility orbs.

Jeff Gerstmann finished it in 6 hours, completing all of the side-missions along the way.

I'm kinda bored of this already. I've had some fun with it but I'm glad I didn't pay for it (game pass)

What I find really odd is the shooting, as it requires no aiming just look left hold trigger fire and forget. It works well in Sunset Overdrive (amazing game) but that has a huge amount of movement, in this it's just removed the challenge.

Wish my image sig would work

Just played a wee 45 minutes and it's more Crackdown. It feels remarkably like the original in how it handles.

This is all I need from Crackdown 3. I will play more. :D

Just get yourself a cheap months Gamepass and play it via that, it's a short game so you'll have it finished before the sub runs out.

Been playing for about 2 hours and enjoyed it so far, mindless fun and really is a better looking Crackdown 1. Looks lovely in 4K with HDR and all dat neon :datass:

The harsh reviews are completely ridiculous.

This is (well the campaign anyway) exactly what I want from Crackdown 3.

Graphically its actually really good looking, people moaning about it looking like a 360 game are just plain stupid, its a more complex, detailed and stable version of the original Crackdown's graphical style, which is exactly what it should be.

Also don't get the comments I've seen about it being "old" from a gameplay perspective. Again people complaining that there's nothing to do but go places and blow things up are missing the whole point of Crackdown.

For me this is the XBox's Spiderman. It might not have quite the same production values as that game, but its just as fun to play.

I'd be interested if people who are enjoying this have played Saints Row IV? A lot of the complaints from the critical community is that this does nothing that SRIV didn't do better.

Was Saints Row IV an open world platforming game?

I'd argue that central to the appeal of Crackdown is jumping and climbing around the world, that's what the game does that isn't really available in any other open world game I've played (other than the other Crackdown games).

Saints Row IV was an open world game with a superpowered protagonist. It wore its Crackdown (and Prototype) inspirations on its sleeve and allowed you become ridiculously overpowered, even moreso than the games it cribbed from. I do believe there was platforming too (until you get the ability to fly). It was also incredibly funny.

I have no idea how good Crackdown 3 is, but everyone should really play Saints Row IV.

EDIT: Here's the RPS review, from a pre-downfall John Walker:

It's a pretty fun game this, though I even said to my brother in law whist we played last night that the best Crackdown is Saints Row IV.

I'm pretty sure I have multiple copies of the game, but never really got round to playing them. I'm aware people really loved it, but something about the whole aesthetic and character design of the whole series puts me off the game completely.

The traversal in Crackdown really isn't the same as any other game. In the same way Just Cause, inFamous and Spider-Man nail their world traversal styles I'd say Crackdown does the same. Its unique and really fun. But what Crackdown has over those games is that the point of this traversal is built in to the game design. It really does play more like a classic 3D platformer than any other open world game I've ever played.

And about a hundred times that in Game Pass subscriptions probably.

I’m not comparing this to other games, just taking it for what it is: heaps of fun.

To be fair, you'd need to be mental to buy it at full price when you can just get a GamePass subscription at £2 for two months and batter through it that way. :slol:
