The wingsuit was a great addition to the game but the mutant stuff was rubbish and most of the changes they made to the city layout were detrimental.

P3 was ok with the release date announced at E3, presumably the game was ready to go and yet now he thinks the level of quality is not there?

Mmmmmm, what went wrong in a few short months?

Got to be honest. I look at the frankly stellar line up of Xbox 360 exclusives in my own collection and think "what the strawberry float happend since then?"

I suspect that MS are focusing their development resources on stuff for the Xbox OX. That machine will be their opportunity to wrestle back gamers from Sony.

Edit: Nick has setup a specific thread to discuss MS Game Studios and MS exclusives.

Crackdown 3 just got an age rating in Brazil for both Xbox One and PC -

MS were still saying Spring a month ago so maybe a "Play now on Gamepass" at their E3 Briefing.

That would leave their Q4 offerings a bit slight though. Unless of course they have another surprise lined up.

Yeah definitely think this will hit Gamepass during E3. Possibly the last announcement.

In what kind of state will it hit Gamepass is the question though. Gamepass is a sound idea, but I'd hate it to become a platform for Microsoft to launch incomplete, bare bones video games under the premise they'll be finished over time.

Halo 5 and Gears 4 aren’t bare bones...?

Sea of Thieves is so....

Crackdown hasn’t looked healthy since day 1 reveal, let alone the issues behind the scenes so people have concerns it will be game pass fodder.

Hope not, everyone knows Microsoft needs an exclusive hit.

I obviously meant looking forward at yet to be released titles, not those that have already been out a while.

But be honest, you knew that was what I meant.

1 game being released with a lack of content doesn't make a trend. State of Decay 2 looks like a 20-30hr game and Crackdown 3 will probably launch with a Campaign & hopefully a cracking MP. Hope it's out in July as E3 is only a couple of weeks after SOD2 release.

I personally think State of Decay 2 will be the better Exclusive, but I think the first one is amazing. I can’t tell you how excited I am for it.

I worry that Crackdown 3 will be ropey to be honest, also the cloud stuff in mp could be stunning if it works. The previews of it a couple of years ago were very positive, I think it may roll out after release as it would buckle on Day One.

Tbh, I don't care about the MP aspect, I'll likely get cracking on the campaign though in co-op.

Rumours on the delay -

Heard the reason for the game being delayed was the Campaign (wasn't meeting quality standards by MS) and not the cloud-based multiplayer as we all thought. Take this with a pinch of salt since I've just heard that from a couple of users through DM on Era and Twitter and I haven't been able to get further proof.

Jez from Windows Central -
Heard campaign too, rather than multiplayer, but I also heard the delay was really good for the game, and quality has improved a huge amount from last summer. Time will tell.

I also heard from a few ppl that the Brazilian Crackdown 3 ratings board listing wasn't real (it's easy to submit false listings there apparently), idk if that means Crackdown 3 will come later than expected, but I wouldn't expect a huge degree of overlap with State of Decay 2.

The new name of the game for Microsoft is spreading out releases as much as possible to incentivize rolling Game Pass subscriptions.

A couple of rumours from 2 reliable posters at Resetera -

Klobrille said:

Alright. Because of my comment yesterday I know I owe you guys a little more. I had a long - and I mean really long - chat with someone working on the game just today. I can't verify these things though as I won't risk anyones anonymity. So take this as a disclaimer - and just as a blank internet rumor.

Without going into any kind of specifics what I learned is that Crackdown 3 is a bigger game than I thought it would be - and you know I already always was pretty hyped about it. Both in terms of content scope and budget. Contrary to what I've read here, the game without a doubt could've been released in Nov. There was primary one big voice within Microsoft stopping this though - and the budget of the project once more got raised significantly. (Personal annotation: while the name never was written, I think he indeed meant Phil, "to make sure the IP stays relevant in future"). The additional development time wasn't used for just polishing. It also allowed both Sumo and Ruffian to add more features to the two distinct game modes (Reagent Games seems super small today, only overlooking the project). Game runs in native 4K on Xbox One X. No performance mode. "Significantly more meaningful" transformation cars. More on the game to come "soon" now - couldn't confirm E3 showing. I got ensured the game has "significantly improved" compared to the last showing. Maybe Jez heard the same story though.

Jez said:

Heard similar, especially RE: IP being relevant in the future. Heard that it has been significantly improved since last summer, but I've also heard from a few places that, because they want it to be "up there" with Halo/Gears/Forza, that it could get delayed even further. I'd rather see them delay it to improve scope/quality, make it as good as it can be.

I think fans of CD3 will be impressed by what they see, but a bit disappointed at the same time too. This comment will probably make more sense when all the details are out.

It'd be perfect, in all honesty, an alternate take on Fortnite, with an emphasis on destruction rather than building. It'd be really interesting if they could get something like that to work.
