Downgrades happen all the time in video games, but this is a pretty scandalous example. The assertion that this is just more Crackdown seems to be false; it's just an inferior version of a decade old game. :?

I was really shocked by that video. What the strawberry float happened with this game?

To actually create a mechanically inferior game 10 years later... :fp:

It would be interesting to hear the "behind the scenes" story about development of this game. It's pretty clear that the "cloud computing" objectives were spectacular but it appears that none of these goals made it into the release version.

I've not played the game and, whilst it seems at least to be fun, it does look like the game was put together pretty cheaply in comparison to that initial vision.

I haven't got around to playing the campaign yet, but Wrecking Zone is absolutely dreadful. When you finally manage to find a game (and that's very rare, since no-one seems to be playing it) it's a clunky bug-ridden mess. How this managed to be released in this state I have no idea.

Finished the campaign now and just merrily tooling about tidying up orbs. I don’t really understand the criticism. The game isn’t revolutionary but what it does, it does well. I personally think it looks great on my X too although it does get a bit loud.

I know people who used to work at some of the studios involved and, from what I've heard, it wasn't a money issue. They simply couldn't get the tech working, and the tech was leading the game rather than the other way around.

Wouldn't surprise me if the CD3 we got was started and finished in the last 18 months.

Exactly what I was thinking; it has the feel of a big project which wasn't working out and so was re-started and finished pretty quickly.

It does still look to be fun - indeed, as hamm has verified! - but I wonder if the planned cloud-assisted destruction will, once the tech is in place, return for a future game?

Leapt on the £1 Game Pass Ultimate offer, so finally downloaded this. Why on earth are the subtitles so large in the intro and so small in the actual game :slol: UI is utterly useless, but it plays like Crackdown. Still not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, though.

With Crackdown 3 Flying High Campaign Update, you can soar above the city using the Agency Wingsuit, then deliver justice onto enemies below with new gadgets like the Elemental Forge, Hellstorm Flare, Peacekeeper Beacon, and Clusterduck Grenades. Time to up your game, Agents!

Cool, will give that a go tonight!

Finished the campaign last night - it was just more Crackdown really but that was good enough for me.

Finally started playing this properly, and it isn't bad. Bit of a weird way of doing co-op, though, with the Agent/World slot thing. My co-op buddy was saying that every time she tries to save the game it gives her an error when she attempts to overwrite the previous world slot, so she has to save it in a fresh slot every time :slol: Has anyone else had any trouble with that before? Google doesn't really tell me much, just a load of people complaining that they'd overwritten their singleplayer progress by saving the world slot. She still gets all the achievements unlocking how they should, so I'm hoping there's nothing to worry about, but it's a bit odd.

Don't understand why the recent co-op offerings have taken such steps backwards, too. First Halo 5 didn't do splitscreen, then Gears 4 only offered 2-player campaign co-op instead of 4-player (also isn't Gears 5 only 3-player or something stupid?), and now Crackdown 3 only manages two players, despite Crackdown 2 being 4-player.

Maybe they were hoping with some weird logic that going back to 2 player would somehow be better as the best Crackdown by far is the first?

Doesn't seem there have been further updates regarding co-op so I guess she'll have to keep deleting her old saves.

Split-screen is back for Halo Infinte/Gears 5. Maybe Gameplay reasons for 3 player Gears 5 with increased use of Jack the Robot.

Resurrecting a 1year+ old thread...
Just started playing this today on GamePass. Campaign only. Seems decent from what I’ve done so far. Never played CD2 but loved CD1 and this seems more of the same. Nothing spectacular but it does what it does and delivers an enjoyable romp around the city.

I really enjoyed it. It wraped up just in time for the charm to have not worn off.

I kinda get the impression that this is actually quite fun; a decent game but it never really recovered from the hype of the planned "cloud-computed destruction"?

Yea, i think that was a mutliplayer thing - I never even downloaded that side of the game. As a single player game its just simple fun with a rewarding sense of ability progression.

I also really enjoyed scaling the propaganda towers, they felt like just the right amount of challenge.

...if I did ever get to pick up a Series console, this is a game that I'd like to try out!
