One thing that I don't like in this game is how segmented it feels. I feel like I can only play it in short bursts.

But it truly is a wonderful bit of design apart from that. It throws a lot of gameplay mechanics at you, and I love that. They really improved on the original game.

Eeeeeeeh. I think I preferred the original just because of how concise it was, not to mention how surprising. The second one was great, but lacked that initial impact.

CoD: Infinite Warfare SP

Urgh, the utter humourlessness of these games really is something to behold. They're the Transformers of video-games without the hilarious racial stereotypes and overt sexism. Still, at least this one was trying to do something different, even if that thing is "poor Titanfall knockoff." It's fine. I enjoy the spectacle of it and I've a soft spot for games with home bases but it's still CoD at it's core.

Life is Strange

Bit of a change of pace from Wolfenstein but I thought it was about time I got round to playing this given all the fuss that has been made over it. The first episode was free so I played that to completion last night and I really enjoyed it, love the ability to rewind at points and the story and characters have my interest so far. It feels very similar to the Telltale games except the engine seems far less janky. Only thing I'm not liking so far is some of the dialogue, the 'teen slang' is cringeworthy, particularly the frequent use of the word 'hella' :dread: .

Still, enjoyed it enough to pick up the rest of it on Steam while it's on sale so will probably make a start on Episode 2 tonight.

Teehee.

You're right of course, but...well. Just wait. Anyway, Episode 1 is the weakest in the series...it really does go from strength to strength

Infinite Warfare
continues. There's the frame for a good game here, but the shooting is so tired and rote that it's just that: a frame. I loved the fact you had a home base and could choose your missions, I loved the bit after the Fuel Tower mission but the rest is nonsense. Absolute tosh. The most painful part of dying is having to witness another Year 8 Creative Writing-esque fake quote from the SDR Council "The only invincible army on Earth will be ours!" "We will use bomb, dagger and gun to achieve victory" "Freedom is the refuge of the stupid!" Good god they're awful. It's like someone read The Expanse books and somehow managed to make them even more broad.

Watch Dogs on PS4. I picked this up for a fiver and I'm enjoying it thus far, I'm only a couple of story missions in though and I will say that it's frustrating how quickly your dude dies if it kicks off. It's that illusion of freedom issue, it appears as though you can take any number of different routes to your goal but really you have to play the game the way it wants you to play it.

DiRT Showdown
Bought this for 99p on Steam a while back. It feels like a mixture of DiRT 3 and Flatout, with - thankfully - less of the gymkhana gooseberry fool. It's still there a bit, but it's tolerable. Other events are fun enough, it looks great, and it's ideal for a quick session of an evening. For the price I can't complain at all, although the lack of modes might have left me feeling a bit shortchanged had I paid a lot more.

Midnight Club: Los Angeles
I had a hankering for some motorbike racing and, aside from PGR 4 which I've played to death, this was my easiest option. I played it a while back and while it was okay, I found the races frustrating, and having to drive to get to the races - the only bits I actually care about - was tedious as strawberry float, especially with police around and you having to lose them before starting an event, should you get caught. I just don't get why this is seen as a good thing, especially when the city itself is boring, clogged with traffic and full of police. Anyway, this time around I'm enjoying it more. Having to spend time driving to races is still a massive pain in the arse, but the races themselves are pretty fun; handling is nice, racing is fast and fraught with risk, and I've had some pretty exciting and close finishes. NPCs and their annoying jibes grate pretty quickly, but the tuning and racing side of it is good enough. There's a strawberry float tonne of events, which I almost certainly won't have the enthusiasm to complete, but chipping away at them every now and then is an appealing prospect.

Pro Evo 2015
Again, wanted to play a football game, and this was the easiest choice. It's still probably the best football game I've played, and although I gave up before after winning everything with Villa, it's pulled me back in for another season (or two...). Feels so natural compared to most other games, with unpredictable goals, close matches and it just being a blast to play. Love settling down for a good Pro Evo session. :datass:

Mark of the Ninja. A game deserving of more appreciation. It's a cracking wee download title. Fun gameplay and good level design.

Is that Master League mode that you're playing, Lotus? It's funny how folk have differing preferences with the game - I never play any mode other than Online Divisions, whilst I know that some people stick to myClub or Master League!

At the moment I'm just playing PES 2017 (PS4) and Final Fantasy XIV (PS4). I've currently lost the desire to play other titles but those two are keeping my attention. I want to stick with FF XIV and learn the ropes rather than drifting away from it like I have in the past. I made a breakthrough over the past few days :) .

If you are interested in stealth games, I can see you getting on with it well enough.

Yep, I've always pretty much just played Master League in all of the Pro Evo games I've owned. Not a fan of playing online generally, and ML's so addictive anyway that no other mode generally gets a look in.

I've been playing FTL ages ago I compelted it but I have no how I managed that now. The game is super fun though, I like that you can't save and reload as it adds a load of tension to the game.

Still largely playing Assassins Creed 2 as part of the Ezio Collection on PS4.

Done 8 memories so far (about halfway I think) but now completed all 6 tombs and bought all weapons, paintings, armour that are available at this time (just a couple left to get when they are made available). Absolutely rolling in dosh though now.

Just a couple of gripes. One mission had me looking to assassinate a guy on top of the tallest tower in the city but recommended I clear out all archers on neighbouring ones first. I did all that only to find that the target wasn't at the top of the tower even though the map said he was. Had to restart mission several times until he was there long enough for me to scramble up and get him

Worse than that though I did the final tomb where you have 4 separate levers to pull in a timely manner before they retract. Only trouble was 2 of the levers weren't shown in the game and I had to do leaps of faith to hold onto thin air to activate them. Most annoying when it took 45 secs or so to get in position only to then jump and miss the lever cos it wasn't displayed. Anyway all done now so it's story time and feather collecting from now on.

Also played a little of a recent PS Plus game Spy Chameleon. Up to level 35 now. A decent little game but suddenly the difficulty level has ramped up from level 31.

Persona 4 Golden still gets a little attention now. Over 55hrs now and I'm still trudging through it. Honestly I don't know why all the fuss over this game. I'm only continuing to find out the story and I guess I could just Google for that
