Was up to 4am this morning drinking beer and playing SF 3rd Strike on Xbox 360 with a friend.

Haven't done that in a while, but it was ace. Dude is still better than me at SF, but I gave him more than a few kickings.

Soma.

I thought there would be a bit more to this in the gameplay department. Seems like one of these walking simulators.

Interesting story so far though.

Edit - Can't see myself playing this much longer. The gameplay is so strawberry floating tedious, I can't be arsed waiting for fat people with discoball heads to get out of my way.

Alice: Madness Returns on PS3. I think I’m about halfway through this now and right from the off it’s a far better game than it’s predecessor. This a sequel done absolutely right!

Fallout New Vegas in X1 back compat is €7.50 this week....worth it? Runs better than 360 version also.

I fire up the Orange Box on my X1 every now and then, I must have finished HL2 about 8 times at least, I still need to do the Gnome run on Episode 2 tho for the 'chievos, and Ravenholm only using the gravity gun.

Halo CE came out 3 years before HL2, but Halo 2 was all about the online.

Brerlappin wrote:Played a bit of Half Life 2 this last week. I always get an itch to play it this time of year, pretty much just because i got it on launch in November 2004. Playing it with the officially sanctioned by Valve HL2 Update mod, which does a very nice, very subtle update to some of the original graphics (better lighting, fog, etc). At 4K and 60fps it really still looks quite nice. Its aged very well. It has its issues with the length of certain sections but i still love it. Every time i play it i cant help but remember how revolutionary this all was when i first palyed it. I dont think ive actually ever experienced a game that was as absolutely revolutionary as HL2 was on release. At the time the other 2 big shooters Were Doom 3 and Halo 2, and i remember both games (especially Halo) being tainted by just how much better HL2 was by comparison. Doom 3 at least had its incredible lighting, but i remember playing Halo 2 and it just seemed like i was stepping back in time whenever i fired that game up.

For me HL2 was the game which made me realise I really don't like First Person Shooters all that much, I can appreciate it from a technical and artistic perspective as it did attempt to redefine the genre but as a gaming experience I just couldn't get into it at all

Ravenholme was the final straw, I'm not ashamed to admit it was too scary for me, I can handle most 'scary' films and non FPS games but there's something about the first person perspective that renders me a nervous gibbering wreck and I genuinely don't like the feeling.

Ravenholm certainly has an unsettling feeling and those spider crabs are just terrifying. It's a pity tho cos the best of the game is after Ravenholm.

Easily, it's so much better than Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. One of the best RPGs ever made.

I'd be interested to know what you think, it always seems ridiculous to me that as good as New Vegas is it has to be qualified as 'much better than Fallout 3/4'. It's very similar.

Very similar in gameplay and game mechanics (and of course visuals), but the quest structure, player agency and general writing is on another level. Fallout 3 and 4 pretty much play out the same on multiple playthroughs. New Vegas playthroughs can be hugely divergent.

I've been playing dead rising. I'm quite enjoying it although getting a little bored of doing the same missions over and over again. Also I don't think they fully committed to their base game loop. It could be extended far more.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

Got back into Fallout 3 of recent. It's so much better than 4.

Here's a thing though, I've never played Vegas. Reading through the comments here worth a punt then?

Definitely if you like F3. There's a lot more choice, and it feels like the choices have impact on the story. Gameplay is slightly better.

The DLC ranges from not very good to amazing. Old World Blues DLC was probably better than any of F3's DLC.

Yeah go for it!

Two very different opinions. Hmm..

We'll the Ultimate edition is currently £8.99 on Steam, so what the hell I'll give it a punt. A few work colleagues have said to avoid playing the Dead Money DLC, though, as it's terrible.

I have to be honest lads, I was on its page ready to buy then scrolled down and watched some clips of it on X1, then watched 45minutes broadcast again on X1 and it looks like a turd so I've held off...now I'm wondering wether to get Fallout 3 instead... :fp:

F3 has better locations but story, character, quests, role playing are all much better in NV. It has some amazing side kicks too. Boone :datass:

How anyone can say it's a turd is crazy to me. Love NV. Like had been said, each play through can feel very different whereas F3/ F4 play pretty much the same every time.

Resident Evil Revelations 2

This seems pretty underrated as far as REs go, it's shaping up to be my favourite TPS in the series outside of 4 (obviously). It's still a bit more linear than I'd like, but the atmosphere and pacing are more on point in terms of what I want out of RE. Barry Burton's inclusion certainly helps \m/

Nearing the end of chapter 2, hope it doesn't run out of steam by the end; at least from what I've played I'm surprised it gets so overlooked.
