Playing devils advocate, you could say the only consoles that consistently feel ‘next gen’ are Nintendo ones, where since the Wii they’ve been constantly trying to change how people play games. While the others are great consoles, that have amazing games on them, they’re just better versions of their previous console.

Being serious though, the Series X is a very good console, I imagine the PS5 is too but I’ve not played on one, so also is the Switch to the point where I find myself hoping that Nintendo have done the vast majority of their innovation and have finally found something to constantly improve upon, rather than trying to reinvent themselves.

Although, we’re in a great period of gaming whatever platform(s) you’re playing on, plenty of games to enjoy on them all.

Has anyone dev unlocked their Xbox yet? I hear good things about the speed the Series S runs GameCube and Dreamcast roms which I would make use of.

“Balanced view.”

Going by Microsoft's GPU and its push towards GAAS, you won't be getting the equivalent of TLOU2. I do like the Series X Controller, but the Dualsense is next gen.

The series x is a lovely all rounder, but I want proper next gen games that look next gen. PS5, thought to be the inferior console is making the series x look last gen at the moment. I want this to change, and hopefully with the large number of acquisitions, it will.

You still peddling this?

Fable, Avowed, Perfect Dark, Starfield, Hellblade 2, Doom sequel, Wolfenstein sequel, Dishonored sequel, Death Loop, Ghostwire Tokyo, The Outer Worlds 2, Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls 5 will not be Games as a Service.

Fallout 76, Elder Scrolls Online, Sea of Thieves, Gears 5, Halo MCC, Halo Infinite, Flight sim and Forza Horizon 5 will be (possibly State of Decay 3).

I think that's a decent combination of the two types of games from a first party perspective off the top of my head.

I'm really enjoying my Series X and my Daughter loves her Series S. My mate also got a Series S and he thinks it's amazing.

I did it on the Xbox One a long time ago. I tried a few games and it worked pretty well but the boot time in to the dev environment was a bit slow which apparently is quicker now on the Series consoles.

Not only gaas, but dlc heavy games. You really think microsoft will push out fully complete single player experiences like the last of us 2? No chance!

We will see a good number of quality titles, which is great, but don’t expect anything near the quality sony have.

Its a lovely second or third console imo.

They sure are strawberry floating keeping us waiting for the TLoU 2 multiplayer though.

Grrrrrrrr strawberry floating hurry up or I'm going to get really angry and do something silly like starting to play something else!
That'll teach em.
