Have you managed to get a new gen console and if so how have you found it so far?
Personally, I got a PS5 and XSX at launch, and while I'm not unhappy with my purchases the fact that almost all the games I play on them are last gen games is a bit disappointing. I don't think I'd have missed much if I was among the people who haven't been able to get a machine and think the scalpers can fuck-off.
Of the two I've used the XSX the most and the sheer silence of the thing (it seems way less noisy than the PS5) is something I honestly wouldn't have thought I would care about but it's a big improvement.
I got a PS5 and XsX and I really like them both, played some of the big games from the last few years on them and they have all looked and sounded spectacular (that’s in conjunction with having bought an LG CX TV so that’s helped massively in providing the ‘next gen’ feel.
If I had to rate it I would say 8 out of 10 for me
All that being said though I still mostly play my Switch, I prefer playing handheld than being tethered to the TV every time I play a game.
Ps5 amazing at the start, demons souls, astrobot and some 60fps updates certainly kept me busy.
Got a series x after a few months due to intrigue, but also the potential savings to be had. Missing out on xbox last gen also gave me a massive bc and some of them have been so well advanced. Loving games like forza horizon, halo, even dirt 5. Theres so much to look forward to and the prospect of free third party games makes me think the series x will pay for itself.
Ps5 is still the most next gen console, but the series x feels like the best all in one package with a lot more quick play games.
Very happy with it, but like you, play entirely last-gen games on it. This isn't so bad as I never had an Xbone, so catching up on some missed titles is great.
Looking forward to some true next-gen games with all the ray tracing and that. But at the moment, the speed of the XSX and the silence is superb. Coming from a Chinook sounding PS4, it's worth the price alone for the sheer tranquility of the silence.
Got an X , it arrived day after release and I love it. 9 out of 10 enjoying every moment. In comparison I regretted getting my Switch on release it was only 1 year latterish when I couldn't put it down largely thanks to Hollow knight that I was glad I grabbed it.
Like the controller and the quietness of the console. Pretty sparse on the games front, Control deluxe edition was nice, Demon's Souls was very pretty, good to finally have Disco Elysium. Resi in a couple of weeks will be delightful.
6/10 so far
Glad I've got one but wouldn't feel like I was missing much if I didn't.
Got a Series X at launch and love it, perfect companion console to my Switch. While I had an Xbox One I really barely played much outside of racing games on it, PS4 just a few exclusives so getting both again would have been a waste of money for me.
It’s slightly disappointing that the majority of games I’m playing are available on the last gen consoles, but going forward I think the Series X and PS5 will both end up being great consoles once the exclusive current gen games start coming and the last gen is slowly left behind.
It's been a smooth transition for me, with Watch Dogs Legions free upgrade allowing me to pick up where I left off just a few days prior from the PS4 version - though I do wish the trophies could've been merged as well. Astro's playroom and Destruction All-Stars are the two exclusive games I've played so far, with the former being an absolute joy to experience. Reckon I'll be mostly be tackling my PS4 backlog throughout this year and into the next, but the upgrades for some of these (Ghost of Tsushima, Spiderman, Mafia: Definitive Edition) will likely feel new-gen to me regardless.
Hardware-wise, my only complaint is that Dualsense drift exists and so of course I'll need to send mine in for maintenance regularly throughout this generation. If Sony give it a revision later down the line, that'd be fantastic.
Got a PS5 at launch, loading is amazingly fast, store integration is great and it feels new and shiny.
Games are nothing mind blowing, Demon Souls is a great but it's a remaster. Watch dogs and assassin's creed both looks beautiful but don't do much more than that. I like Godfall for what it is, but it's lacking anything to keep anyone playing.
The hard drive is small and the fact that games are either 60 FPS or ray tracing on with 4k shows that this isn't really next gen.
Apart from Demon Souls I've played more PS4 games than PS5 with my new console. I expect this to improve as the year goes on with Ratchet and Resi. But I'm more excited for Samurai warriors 5 and earth defense force world brothers which are PS4 games.
A Series S for me. Oh, and Stadia, but I really don't know where that fits in, except that I like it a lot.
Anyhow, I've got a Switch which I'm in no hurry to upgrade. And a PS4, likewise. I suppose so far it's only Miles Morales that makes me cast the odd envious glance towards PS5. I'll probably get a PS5 at some point, but in no rush right now.
As for the Series S, that's a different matter. Delighted with it. Yes I'm mainly playing X box One games right now having skipped that console, but ... it's already a huge favourite of mine. It's just the speed that makes it seem like a jump ahead of the last gen.
And also Gamepass, which I'm new to but which has already completely changed what I play. You might say GP is nothing new, and you also have GP on X One. That's true, but I'd say it has come on very rapidly recently what with EA Play and Bethesda etc being added, and not only that, with games being optimised for the new consoles, making it feel like a better service on the new hardware.
I suppose, console makers are shouted at for not having enough backwards compatibility plus people wanting to keep your old stuff going online etc, and they're also shouted at for not adding enough new stuff at the same time. It's sort of a rock and a hard place position.
So, you kind of get 'soft' launches like this, where there's no definitive break with the previous gen for either of the big two.
I guess whether you're disappointed with that or not depends on what you were expecting.
Anyhow, I'd rate my Series S a 9. Give me a few new great games this year and it's going to rocket towards the top of my all time favourites list.

That's good to hear. Like you I'm a Nintendo guy, and am also going to get a Series S soon for game pass.; so good to hear you speak so highly of it.
I'm going to get a PS5 as my main non-Nintendo console this gen when they are available enough I can just pick one up easily (not even going to bother trying at the minute). PS5 is going to be great when it gets going properly and there's exclusives but I'm not in a rush at the moment as theres not many games that aren't available on PS4.
I'm not going to upgrade my 720 HDTV - is there much of a difference graphically between PS4 and PS5 that can be appreciated on older TVs - do you not need a fancy 4K TV to make use of the frame rate improvements etc.
This is probably the first time my consoles can keep up with my PC, so that alone has been an absolute game changer.
Haven’t really touched my PC at all since the PS5 came out. At this point in time the Xbox Series X and PS5 simply don’t feel like a second-rate experience like the last gen machines did. Fully expect that to flip in a couple of years, but for now, it’s fantastic
