I don't care what anyone says. Cartman put his finger, at the very least, in Michael Jackson.

This is the kind of gooseberry fool that makes me sit on the fence. I think the first accuser, the father of one of the children, wanted something from Jackson too and the accusation came after he was rejected. Now that obviously doesn't point to Jackson's innocence, but it's not a good look for the accusers.

Just read that Forbes thing, the accusers bringing this up now many years after the fact is a bit of a puzzler, particularly as it contradicts their previous defence of MJ. Similarly yes it's not a good sign that this seems to coincide with the accusers seemingly falling on hard times.

But does that mean their accounts can be totally discredited? Is it that unusual for those who have suffered abuse to initially not want to open up about it and even deny it ever happened?

I still don't know what to think about Jackson personally. It's easy to get carried away with allegations and various accounts of his private life and personality give the impression that he was certainly naive and had odd habits and behaviours, but he's been put on trial on multiple occasions and was found to be innocent. Did he do anything? I don't know, but were he still alive I don't think I would be leaving my kids with him.

The writer of that Forbes piece is somebody who has written books on Jackson, is a big fan of Jackson and has frequently defended him.

It is impossible to know for sure if Jackson was a child abuser, but only in the same way that you could say that about Jimmy Savile.

A documentary and the court of public opinion opinion is a poor substitute for an actual trial. Unfortunately when an accused person is dead there seems to be no viable alternative, but I don't think that's an excuse for throwing aside the maxim of innocence before proven guilt. It's a messy subject that you're not going to get a definitive answer out of, so I think you're better off not wasting your time looking for one if you're not involved.

Which I think is a significant difference with regards to the Savile comparison. With Savile whilst there were plenty of rumours going around he was never subject to the same level of investigation as Jackson was during his lifetime. The vast majority of formal accusations regarding Savile came out after he was dead and related to acts 30+ years before, Jackson's allegations came out when he was alive and related to acts that had happened at the time.

Jackson was subject to investigation whilst he was alive and it did not find sufficient evidence to convict him. Does that make him 100% innocent, no - but it is a different scenario to Savile.

I never understood those parents who were quite happy to leave their children in the 'care' of an adult who clearly had deep seeded mental issues even without the accusations directed at him. The whole thing was odd.

What is your opinion of Jimmy Savile?

There was a huge official police investigation that concluded "214 of the complaints that had been made against Savile after his death would have been criminal offences if they had been reported at the time". Granted it never went to trial, but the unprecedented scale makes the allegations appear almost undoubtedly true and I have no doubt he would have been found guilty.

That's a very different scenario to a privately funded TV documentary with only 2 complaints. As Jenuall says there is also a big difference between the two as Jackson was accused, investigated and taken to trial during his life - and found not guilty.

Jimmy Saville is an exception rather than the norm in how his criminal behaviour on an unprecedented scale was finally brought to light after his death.

If this documentary was instead the result of an investigation by law enforcement, then that would be somewhat different, although I'd still lament the inability to bring it to trial for a definitive answer.

Jackson's trial was a farce. Nothing more than a media circus. In any other scenario I've no doubt the verdict would have been quite different.

Like any good non-paedos, MJ paid tens of millions to multiple complainants to suppress allegations of touching young boys.

I mean, I'm sure we've all been there. 100% innocent

I'm not far from Channel 4 HQ in London so may march over there after work to see if there are any protests like there was yesterday.

Don't go protesting. Stop reading trashy Mirror articles. Ignore the documentary and move on with your life.
