There was a big update for this yesterday (I know most people have given up on it), which has added some Animal Crossing-style features including home decoration.

You can get some free gifts for receiving and sending messages (please send me some messages, so I can get the free flooring!).

I hope Miitomo is going to be integrated into the Switch, to give some variety to Mii costumes etc.

That was a big thing missing. Glad to see its been added.

Why? It's a terrible social media service with no redeeming features.

Bin it and start again.

To be fair, if they can add the ability to intergrate your Switch friend list and ability to see these messages both on your Miitomo app and the console itself this might actually be a decent messaging system

They've added it because kids even use snap chat to chat these days, social media companies are on there, bloody everyone is using about 5 different chat apps, it's insane.

Nintendo is is closing down Miitomo on 9 May :o .

I have to say that I barely used the app, finding it to be rather uninvolving and dull. However, I had thought it had been doing okay as updates where made on a pretty much constant basis.

It's a bit worrying for Nintendo's social / community products as, with this closure hot on the tail of Miiverse being switched off and no apparent plans for something similar on Switch, they don't have anything in that area.

...not quite, but IIRC I was pretty excited about "playing Nintendo" on my new tablet  . Some people used to bang on about how good mobile gaming is but, nearly two years later, I now know that 99.8% of it is bloody awful  .

Mobile gaming is utter gooseberry fool apart from that one in a million toilet distraction game. It will remain that way until we get day 1 parity launches of major releases. For example, the latest fifa (not a cut down version but the proper game) needs to be out on the same day as the ps4, Xbox versions for it to take off.

There are a few decent games but they are pretty rare.

Personally I really like the reckless racing series, Monument Valley, Mini Metro and Cut the Rope series.

There have also been some decent remakes and ports like Roller Coaster Tcoon Classic, Theme Hospital and Transport Tycoon

But yeah most suck arse and are just micro transaction nightmares!
