I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Xenoblade Chronicles on Dolphin is truly glorious  :o :toot:

But wouldn't it be good if rather than having to buy a PC and fiddle around with an emulator, you could just buy a single Nintendo device that did the same thing out of the box and at a much lower price.

I depends what you prefer. I'd rather have the PC so that I can tinker with the settings to get constant frame rates. Wind Waker HD was a fantastic experience but I would have welcomed the chance to turn down some features so that it had a constant frame rate during boss battles and naval warfare. You've also got to deal with the fact that you'd have to rebuy your old games on the new console whereas, with PC, it's a simple case of dumping the data and making an ISO.

I would find it a very tempting feature if the NX had a more complete, easily-accessible back catalogue. There's no reason whatsoever why you couldn't get all the important GBA and SNES classics on there at launch, and it would help if they included remasters of the top Wii and Wii U games too.

PC is obviously the superior emulation platform given you have a good setup, but it's also only dubiously-legal even if you own the original disc (because the emulator itself will always technically contain components which violate Nintendo's copyrights/patents). Not that that's ever put anyone off, but people tend to prefer more-legitimate solutions if they're available (e.g. look how Steam, and particularly Steam sales, beat PC piracy).

:slol: the idea of having a single Nintendo system with all the greatest games from the past is like music to my ears!

With Wii games, I never liked the Wiimote so I never really got to enjoy the games from that system. Having the games re-released with updated control scheme is something I would love to see

What am I reading? :|

Why would you be hoping that games like Mario Galaxy get re-released without the control schemes that made them so good to play?

That's like saying you've heard good things about Doom but you're going to wait until it gets remade for flight stick.

I don't feel as though the WiiMote actually added much to Galaxy, aside from the collection of stars.

Was it basically not a completely familiar and traditional 3d-platformer control scheme?

You also needed the pointer controls for Yoshi and you had to shake the Wiimote for the spin attack. I just didn't like the Wiimote/Nunchuck combo itself either, would much prefer a standard controller without all the shake/pointer stuff

I wouldn't say that the control scheme made Galaxy a joy to play as much as how free your hands feel when holding the Wii remote and nunchuk. Metroid Prime, on the other hand, was definitely vastly improved with the Wii remote controls.

Not convinced waggle is an irreplaceable part of the Mario Galaxy experience. It could definitely be reworked to play OK with standard controls.

I like the Wii Remote and nunchuk combination. Sure, some game make terrible use of these controllers, but then there are games like Pikmin 3, Wii Sports resort, Red Steel 2 and Metroid Prime 3 where they just feel so right.

This, of course, is the truth.

As much as I loved the game, I didn't fully ever get on with the controls on the Cube. But on the Wii it was perfect.

I enjoyed the freedom of the Wii remote and nunchuk so much that I also used it for Mario Kart 8 and 3D World

:toot:

These days I use the Pro Controller but there was a time when I really was using motion controls :toot: I still enjoy using them for Mario Kart Wii, when I play it.

Does the pro controller have tilt sensors or anything like Dual Shock 3/4?

No tilt, but it has rumble. And the battery charge lasts for around 80 hours :toot: .

I wonder if we will finally get the NX reveal this month? The investor meeting is at the end of the month

If they do make them available I'd imagine that will mean they are still supporting Wii controllers...if you think about it, why would they drop support and do what would probably amount to a tonne of extra work to shoehorn in standard controls when they absolutely don't have to?

I would imagine the most we can hope for is that they will confirm that the full release information will be released at E3.

I'd imagine we'll get a console reveal a few weeks before E3 followed by some game announcements at E3.
