So THAT'S who you are! wrote:...Loads of companies have it too. [Capcom], KONAMI, Rare, EA, maxis, namco, SQUARESOFT, etc.

You did a great job with those styles, dude! I like the Namco design; those red, extended letters look cool. And now it has been replaced by the duff Bandai Namco logo :x .

If they do continue the VC service I hope they do more to it than just add GC games. It's a great idea in theory but what have they done to make it better than piracy?
I'm not sure if making it into a subscription service is a better idea or if they should just give up on VC games and instead start selling remasters like the 360 version of Banjo Kazooie which isn't a total remake, just the original with the rough edges knocked off.

It was mentioned on the Easy Allies podcast a few weeks back. They should just totally ditch Virtual Console and backwards compatibility and just have a Nintendo Store.

Something that you have one account in that ties across all platforms and just has all Nintendo games on it from Nes to WiiU. You buy Mario64 once and you have it for the rest of your life. It's so simple and it's what everyone wants and people would spend a fuckton on it.

Yup, they absolutely should do that, they wont, because this is Nintendo, but that would be an incredible feature to have.

Yep. They could do that and also have a Netflix type all-you-can-eat option and make an absolute killing. But they won't, because they're actually stupid.

That's a bit harsh, though - actually it's a mix between a misunderstanding of the desire of consumers in 2016, which is brought on by the innate differences between Japanese and Western culture when it comes to how digital has progressed, allied to naivety when it comes to knowledge of the importance and implementation of online services. The sad thing is that pretty much any one of us could devise a better strategy for Nintendo at this point. And this is unusual:

What could you suggest to Netflix for improvements? Buy up more shows and movies that we like? That's pretty much it. The price point hits the sweet spot already, and the suggested strategy might not result in a load more subscribers - indeed it might cost Netflix more money than they gain. The strategy would just be for customer satisfaction purposes rather than necessarily for business reasons.

So how about a company like Apple? Suggestions here: Reduce the price of their products, increase the storage available, increase connectivity options. The thing is, we don't know how this would impact on their bottom line. We don't know if such policies would result in a net benefit to the company, or whether it would cost them too much money for too little gain.

But Nintendo offering a Netflix style service instead of their piecemeal Virtual Console offering? Well, that seems OBVIOUS from a money-making point of view. They'd make way more, they'd get customer loyalty and lock people into the Nintendo ecosystem, getting a steady, reliable source of income every month. Man, it's strawberry floating obvious. Which is frustrating.

Actually, I increasingly find Netflix suffers from a bit of quantity over quality. I am fatigued of trudging through it, looking for stuff to watch. The film offering is below par.

(I only use UK Netflix, btw).

The point is it's a strawberry floating mess at the moment, you get a gooseberry fool drip feed of games so you never know what is on there, they're overpriced as you can only use them on one device and will become redundant when you upgrade your console. You can kind of emulate virtual console stuff if you guy via the virtual Wii console on the WiiU but that's about as intuitive as kicking yourself in the bollocks. However if you have bought a game previously on VC you can upgrade it to being useable on WiiU for a small price but that only lasts a limited time I think. Sometimes things work with the game pad other times they don't. There is some cross compatibility between buying on one store and being able to play on WiiU or 3DS, or there isn't I'm not sure.

I mean who the strawberry float comes up with this nonsense.

How has no one suggested the idea that you just give Nintendo £10 and you own Wave Race 64 for life as long as you have a Nintendo platform to play it on.

Utter gash, I spotted something called "Scrotal Recall" the other day whilst desperately trying to find something to watch and actually switched off in utter contempt of the shite on offer, ended up watching a repeat of an old Ray Mears program on the travel channel.

I don't think that is something we can say with any real confidence. We know nothing about the cost of running the virtual console, or how the game rights are worked out with third parties. We also don't know how much money they make from the drip-feed approach, or even from people paying the "upgrade fee" or just outright buying the games multiple times. I definitely agree that it would be a very good model for us, but when it comes to it being a good model for Nintendo we haven't any info either way. Playstation Now is at least similar in concept, but it doesn't appear to that popular.

Ultimately, especially on the Wii U, the virtual console has been a squandered idea. It does feel like we've moved back from what we had on the Wii, instead of forwards.

Emily Rogers has also mentioned that over 4 Wii U games are being ported to NX. I think 2 that are very much looking likely at this point would be Zelda U and SSB4, I could also see Splatoon and Mario Maker being ported as sequels to both are likely to be a couple years away.

Mario Maker and Splatoon with their already added content and a wee bit more would be pretty dead on.

All the add on content for those are "free" anyway. So I probably wouldn't buy again. At least with Smash Bros I might be willing to get if it had all the paid for DLC.

What if they added NX exclusive content to the games though. I could see Mario Maker as a great pack in game for NX (this is assuming it has a controller with a screen of course)

If these were available at launch along with a brand new 3D Mario and a new 'Wii Sports' style game it could be a great line up for people who don't own a Wii U

I hope they also bring over some Wii games remastered in HD. The likes of Metroid Prime Trilogy and a Super Mario Galaxy Trilogy would be fantastic, they could use gyro aiming to make up for the lack of Wiimote support

Have you ever owned a Wii/Wii U? Are you just hoping that all Nintendo's games from the past 10 years are on NX?

We've got a device for people who want GameCube and Wii games in HD. It's called a PC. Soon it will even have Wii U games running at full speed.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Xenoblade Chronicles on Dolphin is truly glorious  :o :toot:

:slol: the idea of having a single Nintendo system with all the greatest games from the past is like music to my ears!

With Wii games, I never liked the Wiimote so I never really got to enjoy the games from that system. Having the games re-released with updated control scheme is something I would love to see
