How so? I mean, how so like Game of Throne? I can't remember there being any particularly deep lore stuff this ep.

I presume the Klingon stuff?

I'll have to buck the trend. I thought that episode was dreadful. It's like they are flat out of ideas and the 'monster of the week' was basically just a big round firey ball.

Saru for me is the best character by a mile so it was good he got a decent story for his own character. The rest, the Tilly stuff, the main story, the whole engineering bit was just so dull and poorly written in my opinion.

I forgot Clem Fandango was a Klingon in this

Wow, the A-plot Saru / dying star story was actually really good! Impressed at that.

The B-plot Tilly story was fine but felt a bit loose in places. It was enjoyable to spend time with the engineering trio all in one room at least.

Yes. With a newborn in the house, suddenly having a decapitation did not go down well. I assumed there was a twist, but the impact had already been made.

I did get to watch the latest episode. I prefer the monster of the week approach. It balances traditional Trek with the new wave.

Borrowing imagery from Stranger Things.

Saru is still the best thing in this show.

Also that bit where they were singing David Bowie and then he power drilled her head. WTF is this

I can't stand the storylines this season. The characters are good but they are completely wasted in nonsensical gooseberry fool... Please improve.

It really is stupid as hell a lot of the time.

Yep, it's been much better than series 1 and I think it's really going to turn into something pretty great.
It's nowhere near as dark in theme as series 1 which is fantastic as I really think Trek works best when it's about hope for the future rather than everything being grim and depressing.

Yes! They nailed it with the latest show yesterday. First one in a long time where I watched it the whole way through without pausing for food or a toilet break.

Aye, this season has been pretty good since the dying star / dying Saru episode. Quite enjoying it now.

I agree. The quality of the story has shot up and the less dark tone is much appreciated.
The director being Jonathan Frakes put a smile on my face straight away  .

Discovery seems to have hit its stride far quicker than TNG or DS9 ever did.
