There's no one general Yakuza thread, but...

Yakuza 0 thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=40260&p=4073326&hilit=Yakuza#p4073326

There are also threads for pretty much every other game: Kiwami 1 and 2 (remake of Y1 and 2), Remasters collection thread (3, 4 and 5), threads from the original releases of 3, 4 and 5, Yakuza 6, Judgment (spin-off set in Kamurocho), and even a thread for the spin-off which almost killed the series off in the west, Yakuza of the End. So you'll be covered when you get around to playing the others. Great to see more people getting into the series.

I played and completed Yakuza 0 and Like a Dragon, and loved them both.

Bounced off Kiwami 1 and Judgment though. I'll need to go back to them soon. Maybe didn't give myself enough of a break between Yakuza games.

Looks like a Yakuza thread. Im currently playing 3 (remastered), and, after reading quite a lot of negative things about its standing in terms of overall series quality, i have to say im really enjoying it. I have found the sub stories to be the best since Y0 (i am playing them in numerical order) and am finding it a more enjoyable game than Kiwami 1 so far (the sub stories there were far too uninvolving after coming off of 0).

I'm only on chapter 4 and it looks like im on my way to
Kamurocho
. Good times ahead no doubt.

3 was my first Yakuza game and I loved it. It was my favourite (thanks mostly to the orphanage related stuff) until 0 was released. Not replayed it since PS3 days though.

Yeah, there is a lot of nice story and characterisation in it. It really supports the frequently seen commentary that Kiryu is a stand up guy.

Thanks was struggling to find the 0 one.

This game is great, some of the dialogue and side stories are so funny/stupid.

Surely it doesn’t rival Yakuza Kiwami 2’s crazy castle section.

The dancing mini games pissed me off. I can’t even beat the last dancer. :dread: :slol:

It doesn't. Thank god. Though this is more melodrama than set piece, but it's almost as ridiculous... but also the core of it is something you may read in classic fiction. Maybe.

Tigers are, like, so passée. You fight mechanical diggers in this. Also tigers.

Holy gooseberry fool. That's the best ending to ANY Yakuza game ever. The journey may have been almost fantastically ridiculous, but the ending was pure grounded drama. So good.

If you're a fan of the series then you owe yourself to experience it.

The Yakuza Series Will Remain a Turn-Based RPG Series Going Forward

Judgement will be Ryu ga Gotoku's action pillar.

“The Yakuza series has been transformed into a turn-based RPG. On the other hand, over the year, Ryu ga Gotoku Studio has accumulated resources and know-how of making flashy and exhilarating action games that are effortless to enjoy. We decided that we should let our signature action gameplay live on through Lost Judgement.”

And that's the end of my interest in any new games in the series.

They need to fix the grind / dungeon side of it, because other than that, it really is classic Yakuza stuff.
