I hope the shift to traditional RPG isn't a permanent one...

Loading time numbers from main menu to get into the game:

Series X: 6 seconds
Xbox One X: 25 seconds
PS4: 29 seconds
PS4 Pro: 48 seconds
Xbox One S: 53 seconds

Not sure why there's such a big gain in time on the PS4 Pro and One S but it is what it is. Series X load time is fast!

PS5 not part of the mix as it's coming to that console next year.

Wait. The bog standard PS4 is faster than the PS4 Pro?!?

I have too many Yakuza games still to go through so I’ll probably pick this up at a much later date when it will be cheaper.

Make sense. It’ll probably going to be played on the PS5 (decided to keep the PS4 for the kids! No way that the kids are going near the PS5.)

Really looking forward to this, the steelbook looks lovely.
Hopefully in future entries they keep the RPG combat and expand on it more.

What the heck is going on with this game?! Japanese Xbox version has been indefinitely delayed.

I guess this is a decent enough place to put it:

A couple days ago Red Bull did an interview with Nagoshi regarding this game, but one of the questions was about the many requests to get Kiryu into Tekken, or just fighting games in general. Turns out people were being too rough on Harada when it was Nagoshi who was blocking it, because fighting games usually have female characters, and Nagoshi doesn't want Kiryu to be beating up women.

Guess Majima's still fair game, though.

Been playing through the first few chapters, cracking game instanly liked Ichiban and the new cast of characters. The new RPG combat is pretty decent, a little bit basic so far but hopefully later on it'll expand. Overall very happy with what RGG have done, looking forward to playing more.

Got to start of Chapter 3 and I really like it, although I don't like how you can't at least move your character(s) around the battle. I feel if you can with limited ability it'd be better, but oh well.

I do really like main character, he's adorable dork. Hoping it opens up real soon so I can ignore main story for bit and go wild doing stuff!

I am on chapter 9 seriously enjoying this game it's so wacky but yet can also be quiet touching at times as well.

Played the first few chapters on PS4 a few weeks ago, not really feeling the new combat system. Will come back to it when the PS5 version is out since there's a bunch of other stuff I'd rather play just now.

Does this have any links to previous Yakuza storylines?

I've heard from a few places that it's basically it's own thing, and a good jumping off point if you want to get into the series. There are a few recurring factions and characters, but you don't need to play the previous games to understand.

What do you think of the Triad situation?

Really enjoyed the business simulation in this and the kart racing in it's really good as well.

How does the PS4 version run on PS5? 60fps? 4k?

I ended up ordering it for £32 to get the steelbook. Not sure if it's worth holding out to play the PS5 version in March or just start it now.

4k 60fps isn't coming till the PS5 update. Haven't tried the PS4 version on PS5 but I'm guessing it just runs at a locked 30.
