2 and a half hours? Lucky you're not starting with Yakuza 3!

Enjoy!

Seems pretty cool so far, strawberry float tons of cutscenes and chatting in it. Don't mind as it's interesting, but I don't think a short Yakuza stream is a good idea.

You'll get to a point where the game removes restrictions on where you can go and that's when it'll be a good time stream it. Leave big gaps between story missions (you have plenty to distract you) and you won't get many lengthy cutscenes.

Plus the juxtaposition of serious crime drama with all the weird gooseberry fool in the side missions makes it all the more surreal and unique.

*super serious shocking gooseberry fool happens in main story* *spend next untold amount of hours doing silly side missions and playing in arcades*

Kart Racing mini game!

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has new information on Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Yakuza 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness).

Get the tidbits below.

Characters

Saeko Mukouda (voiced by Sumire Uesaka) – Cabaret hostess.
Kouichi Adachi (voiced by Akio Ootsuka) – A former detective. He has received an unreasonable demotion by Horinouchi, the Superintendent General of the Metropolitan Police, for revolting against him. He is working with protagonist Ichiban Kasuga to get closer to Masumi Arakawa, who holds the evidence.

Live Command RPG Battle

When a battle begins, the regular people and those wearing delinquent-like outfits on the field will transform into RPG-like enemy characters with mohawks, or be half-naked, and have weapons.

Summons

By paying money on your smartphone in battle, you can summon help. A large number of characters can be summoned, including Gary Buster Holmes, Gonda Wara, a crayfish, and more. Summons can support you in battle through attack, recovery, and more.

Play Spots

Dragon Cart – A racing game set on a course in the streets of Yokosuka. Pick up boxes to obtain weapons like a rocket launcher or Gatling gun.
Traditional Movie Theater – Ichiban Kasuga always falls asleep in the middle of a movie. This is a button-pressing (rhythm game?) where Kasuga battles the temptation of a sheep man in order to overcome that sleepiness.
PachiSlot – PachiSlot games Million God: Kamigami no Gaisen Another God Hades: Ubowareta ZEUS Ver., PachiSlot Fist of the Blue Sky: Houyuu, and PachiSlot Moujuuou: Ouja no Houkou appear. Settings do not reset when you leave the parlor, but rather change with specific timing. Machines located closer to the entrance have higher rates, which reflect the settings of real life parlors. This is the only PachiSlot simulator running on PlayStation 4.

Well, I've played it 3 times and I'm enjoying it, I also didn't know you played as Majima, well just a second character in general I have no idea if Majima or even Kiryu are in the 1 game onwards

Anyway.

Kiryu is the main character for the entire series.

I have only played Yakuza 0 and Kiwami. The former i really adored (it was probably my GOTY), whilst Kiwami felt a bit lacking (the sub stories were not nearly as engaging). Where does Kiwami 2 stand in comparison to these?

To keep it OT, this new one looks good, and the turn based combat could be fun, but i want to play them all in order. Thats a lot of Yak to catch up on for me, and i think i would be incredibly burnt out if i tried to play that many over the next 12 months or so.

All I can say is that between Kiwami 1 and 2, 2 was the more hotly anticipated title. I haven't played it and so I myself can't say if the game delivered.

Cheers, that's my understanding also - that 2 moved it on in terms of the substories etc (though no doubt not as good as 0). Hope this is true as i would really like to get back on this franchise.

Kiwami 2 looks the nicest, but it's definitely the weakest of the three. The story and sidequests aren't as interesting, they didn't carry over the style switching (though the one style does admittedly feel nice to play), and the final fight is a bit of an anticlimax. I did max out my stats though tbf.

Kiwami 2 uses the new Dragon Engine that 6 and Judgement run on so it plays a bit differently. It's not 60fps unfortunately but the graphics are a huge improvement over 0 and Kiwami, and there's a ton of game improvements from it being built on a more modern engine like the game seamlessly transitioning from exploration to combat. I think overall it's a lot better than Kiwami but not as good as 0. As well as the main story, there's also a shorter campaign where you play as Majima which is pretty cool, and the clan creator mode is a decent time sink.

Thanks for the reply! Seems like there are differing opinions on which is the best out of Kiwami and Kiwami 2.

I don't mean to dump on 2. It's very good, and I still got a crap ton of time out of it. It's undoubtedly the best from a technical standpoint, and the seamless battles Maf mentioned are really nice.

I dunno, I just never felt that invested in the story or its characters outside of the main cast.

That would be a shame. I like all the incidental stuff with minor characters point up from time to time.
