I dunno, I just never felt that invested in the story or its characters outside of the main cast.

That would be a shame. I like all the incidental stuff with minor characters point up from time to time.

Did you play 3? I suggest you play 3.

Looks like a really fun change.

Hopefully it will mean that some of the progress you make in the story and side missions will go to supporting combat, unlocking new moves, party companions, and summons, rather than having combat tied to its own separate progression system you can either grind early on to be overpowered throughout, or neglect it, and wind up stuck later on in the story because you've not unlocked enough moves.

I'm glad the Yakuza series has maintained the juxtaposition between serious and stupid in its genre transition.

To wit, that looks completely utterly butterly and I'm on board.

There's so much Like a Dragon stuff I haven't posted about (Yakuza Pokemon!) but you can find most of it here: https://www.gematsu.com/?s=Like+a+Dragon

Same company which did the English dub for Judgment had (the entry has been deleted since being discovered) Like a Dragon in their credits list:

I'm definitely looking forward to this, however I only recently finished Kiwami 2 so have a LOT of Yakuza games to get through first, especially now the hd remaster collection is out.

Don't rush 'em. And don't be afraid of cleansing your palette in-between. And apparently Judgment is a good Yakuza game as well, so add that to the list

I needed a break after 6, so there was a huge gap for me between it and Kiwami 2 but I'm now back in the swing and absolutely loving the series again.

I'm so jealous that people are going to be experiencing aspects of 3 for the first time  Such a beautiful game. Blew me away. And the remasters add in content they cut (not sure what was cut other than the quiz though...) from the original release so they'll get to play a more complete version!

Definitely, I love them but by the end of each of them i'm not exactly burned out but am looking forward to them being over.

I wish I had got into this series earlier - I am going off most other games nowadays because they're too big geographically so waste your time making you go back and forth, are so dour and gritty in tone as to be miserable to play or crammed with fee-to-pay systems, and Yakuza has none of these. I have never laughed so much or had so many moments of joyous confusion and incredulity at what is going on in a game as in this series. I want to do the side stuff because there is probably a weird substory or fun minigame hidden away, rather than just tidying icons on a map.

Absolutely tons of garbage pre-order incentives, and 3 different editions on release :(
