Never really like NYE and with a 5 month old, options are rather limited. So, we'll be staying in, eating snacks and going to bed well before midnight probably...

Donations welcome, please PM me to prevent unwarranted mule kicking.

That sounds like a better night than being around people pretending to have fun.

Have had insomnia kick in at 1.30am and being stuck on the side of the road for 3 hours in my two week old car I expect I'll get hit with a fire work or something.

Definitely!

My genuine favourite memory of a New Year's was from back in about '97, parents had gone out for a NYE party and I basically just got to stay up and play Mario 64 all night. :toot:

You're both probably right. I find myself becoming increasingly anti social the older I get. Just a few years ago I was out 2 or 3 nights a week but I don't think I've been out at all this year.

I don't think it's anti-social as such. It's just the realisation that it's not worth the time/effort/cost as often as it used to be.

Plus I get tired easier than I used to.

My wife and I were supposed to be chilling out with my dad in London but my son has got chickenpox so we're stuck at the in laws, who I've been staying in the same house as since the 21st and can't leave until the 6th as there's a family thing they want to do. Was going to go out but I've now got a cold which has put paid to that, so a gooseberry fool night even by NYE standards beckons.

Got an NCT group kids NYE party at 3pm ( :dread: ) but it finishes at 5pm. Then it's back home for takeaway and games hopefully.

Free fog in town with my pals band, then off to a house party hosted by ECT nurses.

Or if our friend gets discharged, probably away to hers to help with the newborn she delivered yesterday.

Girlfriend's working at the pub so I'll go over and stand at the bar drinking on my own like an aspiring alcoholic B)

Me too, I think it's this naïve and forced optimism that suddenly everything will be fine and wonderful just because the dates have changed that gets to me, that it's some sort of grotesque masquerade that everyone puts on because that's what we are supposed to do. Against the backdrop of the last year and what that means for the future it rings especially hollow.

Was going to be at a friend's place, but I've had to quarantine myself as I was up just of the night expelling liquid from multiple holes. I'm too light headed to play cities skylines so an just watching Bob's burgers right now. Only started watched it a few weeks ago and I'm hooked.

Hang on a sec, does this mean you normally pay for fog? Who do you pay? The fog inspector?

I just try and avoid Edinburgh in general, especially around the Fringe. Place is always mobbed, cold and windy. Hogmanay there seems like an even lower depth of hell.
