Has anybody applied for permission to go to a friends house in Edinburgh? :fp:

I just try and avoid Edinburgh in general, especially around the Fringe. Place is always mobbed, cold and windy. Hogmanay there seems like an even lower depth of hell.

That’s a shame because it sounds like such good value for money.

Yeah, strawberry float that gooseberry fool.

I remember going to Glasgow Hogmanay street party a couple of times in the Merchant City back in the early 00's and it was £20 to get in and that was it. You could drink, it wasn't mobbed with tourists and it was generally good fun. Got absolutely pished. Great time.

Tonight we are going to see Cats at the cinema. Going to laugh at how bad it is rather than hope it's good. I may regret this decision very shortly after the film starts.

Wish my image sig would work

I think I'd rather pay £14 to jump in cold, Scottish sea.

Lived in Edinburgh all my life and proud to say I've never been near the street party.

Listening to gooseberry fool loads of aphex twin, drinking gooseberry fool loads of alcohol and generally trying to make everything go away. Same as always then...

(Already started tbh.)

Hmm... perhaps the former? (Out of the two.)

Yeah I’d probably prefer you didn’t do the latter there.

Not happening. Keen for a productive day tomorrow.

Had an invite to a mate's house party but need to do a 2-3 hour drive tomorrow and some work, and as my wife is revising for an exam she doesn't want a heavy one either. So we're staying in it looks like.

Going to my friends house from 8:30, not planning on staying out too long but hopefully it should be fun.

Getting anxious about going out as always but what can I do.

Going to a friends house and they're cooking us dinner. They've got a one year old and we've got a 4 month old. I've been drinking coffee all day in an attempt to stay awake for midnight

I'm going out in Liverpool, something I feel too old and post-Christmas fatigued to really be bothered about.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to go to an organised street party to not be able to drink and watch fireworks. Not that I've done it for a few years but Christmas Eve is the secret actual really good night out and New Year's is disappointing, probably something to do with Christmas Eve being everyone's first day off and New Year's being the first day of getting back to reality. Having to pay to get into pubs that would otherwise be free is bollocks.

Anyway, going to a family thing which will be good fun.

Christmas Eve is a good night but a terrible idea because who wants to be hungover on Christmas day? Literally the best meal of the year, I couldn't think of a worse day to ruin!
