It seems that he's involved with Xbox streaming, too; maybe they've got XBO / XBO X games streaming at a quality equal to playing on the actual machines?

4 times the power of One X is a rather bold claim.
Surely they can't be talking about pure TF's as that would be 24TF which surely can't be right.

I just rewatched the video and he say's

"From a pure processing viewpoint this is 4X more powerful than Xbox One X"

Obviously nothing about TF's but still, that's a bold claim.
We'll find out soon enough and I expect Digital Foundry to be given a pretty decent look into the tech involved within a few months as they gave them good access to One X hardware.

Nothing said about a possible cheaper unit.
Maybe they just wanted to crow about the hardcore powerhouse model or maybe the rumours about a cheaper unit were just wrong.

They'll need the cheaper unit announcement for next E3 when they announce the high price for what they revealed today. Probably.

Even though I was always going to get the more powerful version I must admit I was intrigued by the idea of a next gen machine that only output at 1080P.

1080P is still more than fine for many people and not unacceptable by any means and the cost saving could have made it a pretty tempting option for people who game but aren't bothered that much by bleeding edge graphics.

I was reading today that to experience 120 FPS you’re going to need a new 4K/8K TV with HDMI 2.1 capability, something very few TVs currently have. Even Sony’s latest OLED models aren’t compatible. Though I suppose such a frame rate is only really targeting the elites, and few games will likely support it, so I doubt most players will be that upset their fancy pants new TV doesn’t have it.

I know the LG OLED E9 (may be B9?) which is this years model has 4k 120fps. I grabbed the B8 as that was pricey enough and that does 1080p 120fps.

EDIT: It seems like Richard Leadbetter suspects the same, that Lockhart has been killed off:

When do you guys expect the full announcement and maybe a glimpse of retail box?

I think they'll wait until after christmas so it has less impact on sales this christmas so maybe early February. It'll also be interesting to see if they do much with the pad as I'd quite like them to integrate a mic as the with PS4 pad as I think that works well and hopefully add button customisation via the OS as that's always a handy feature.

Current Xbox games and peripherals will all be compatible with next Xbox, don’t expect anything other than the standard controller.

You can already do that on the Xbox One.

Re: games, that's not entirely the case.

While Microsoft is aiming to make thousands of games work on Project Scarlett, it's turning into quite a challenge, so much so that Spencer clearly stated he "can't make the promise that any disc that you've ever owned [will work] backwards".

I hate to keep bringing up the Kinect example, but since Scarlett won't ship with one, those games are unlikely to work.
