Is it? I thought games vary on how dependent they are on GPU or CPU like Dying light is a CPU heavy game and Rocket League is GPU.

A first Gen Ryzen pisses all over the CPU in the One X and they may have access to Gen 2 Ryzen which is even better.

Games are now being held back by the CPU rather than GPU so that's why I expect the main advance being in that area.

I expect most people build machines that are way more balanced than the One X which has a monster GPU but comparatively terrible CPU.

I think most games favour the GPU. On my PC, upgrading my CPU had much less impact than when I upgraded the GPU. But that could be in part due to poor optimisation. My dream version of Windows would optimise games based on what your hardware is, i.e. if you have an ultra powerful CPU, that could take up some of the work done by a low performing GPU.

Fair enough. I don't know a lot about PC's in a technical sense. I was genuinely unsure.

I wonder if Microsoft will actually finish the console this time rather than getting caught out by Sony and being forced to push an unfinished prototype out the door 12 months early.

The One X is a solid machine and I think shows they realise they made a mistake.
I have a feeling both manufacturers will launch at about the same time and the competition for most powerful will be hard fought so I think both will be decent.

I quite like the look of the Pro ... but I do prefer all versions of the PS4 to be set in vertical mode. I wish the fan and disc drive were quieter, though. The X console design does - from the pictures I've seen - look lovely; simple and sleek.

The PS4 Pro looks awesome and unique. The Xbox One X is a PS2 rip off imo.

The pro is an absolute unit and feels a bit cheap to me, the X looks like a premium media device. Not that it really matters but the X looks much nicer in the TV cabinet.
