So the Xbox family, that mean next gen games might work on the X or that it will just be fully BC?

Just fully BC, which MS are working diligently towards.

This will be a clean break with AMD Ryzen processors, the family is basically Xbox Two, Xbox Two S, Xbox Two X etc...

Not sure why you are bothered about it being the most powerful console. If you wanted the most powerful console you could have been playing the PS4 for 4 years before the X was launched.

I watched some of the Spencer interview with Giant Bomb. Good interview with him.

He was saying how the marketing team don’t like him mentioning next gen because people may stop buying their current products. But he wants to be transparent about the future. How also Microsoft have upped their investment in gaming. He’s also got a lot more freedom in his new position. He was hinting that they are not done in terms of studio acquisitions.

The delay to Crackdown was due to it didn’t feel like Crackdown to him, so he gave the team more time rather than sending a half baked game this fall alongside the major releases to die.

He's a personable guy Phil, he appears to be nice enough. He is coy when asked about bringing in more studio's alright.

Announcing new Xbox consoles was never going to please anyone really. People are criticizing MS over it and if he didn't announce it and Xbox 2 dropped 2020 people would criticize them over not announcing it sooner. I felt that the MS conference on the whole was transparent and honest.

MS seems to be in a pretty good place with Nadella as CEO and with Phil's promotion to Executive Vice President of Gaming. Phil working directly under Nadella instead of being overseen by and vying for resources from the Windows and Devices Group is giving their gaming division a lot more freedom going forward.

It certainly feels a lot more like the 360 days rather than the gooseberry fool show by Mattrick and Harrison early on this gen.

So I’m looking forward to what they have to offer in terms of new games and next gen.

Yeah I really like Phil Spencer and he seems to "get" the industry in a way few executives do.

He does have an extremely corporate air about him and it wouldn't surprise me if he had exactly the same enthusiasm if he was suddenly told he's now trying to sell tumble dryers.

Latest rumours form the other thread

Monkey Man wrote:This was posted on Reddit the other day then deleted, not many believed it.

Hello everyone!
*
* I want to share some good info here.
* 2019 start on fire, and a lot of wrong information appears out there. Now i want to share real good info to all of you.
* So, let's go.
*
* Microsoft Studios acquisitions?
*
* Studios in current negotiations:
* - Asobo Studio
* - IO Interactive
* - Platinum Games
* - Turtle Rock Studios
* - Bluepoint Games
* - Relic Entertainment
* - The Farm 51
*
* And a few more, studios from UK, France, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Finland, Canada, Japan, Korea. Microsoft wants great talents and diversity around the World. They don't have a target number or something like that.
*
* Next Xbox Specs and launch window?
*
* Next Xbox Streaming ( Lockhart ) @ $249:
* - CPU: Custom 8 CORES/16 THREADS ZEN 2 CPU
* - GPU: Custom NAVI @ 4+ TERAFLOPS
* - MEMORY: 12GB GDDR6
* - STORAGE: 1TB NVMe SSD @ 1+GB/s
* - DIRECTX Raytracing + MS AI
*
* Next Xbox X ( Anaconda ) @ $499:
* - CPU: Custom 8 CORES/16 THREADS ZEN 2 CPU
* - GPU: Custom NAVI @ 12+ TERAFLOPS
* - MEMORY: 16GB GDDR6
* - STORAGE: 1TB NVMe SSD @ 1+GB/s
* - DIRECTX Raytracing + MS AI
*
* Both consoles will launch in Holiday 2020. Next Xbox XDK will starting rolling out in April or May 2019. Both console will have heavily customization CPU and GPU, and both will support RayTracing with DXR. I know about some pretty crazy customizations and implementations. You will start to see those things around GDC.
* Next Xbox will have fully BC with Xbox One, and they will continue with 360 and OG. All generations in one console.
*
* Bonus?
*
* PS5 @ $399:
* - CPU: Custom 8 CORES/16 THREADS ZEN 2 CPU
* - GPU: Custom NAVI @ 8+ TERAFLOPS
* - MEMORY: 12GB GDDR6
* - STORAGE: 1TB SSD
*
* I know the specs, but i don't know if PS5 will have RayTracing.
* PS5 was dalayed, the target was Holiday 2019. I don't know the actual date. Can be early 2020.
* Also, i know nothing about PS4 Backward Compatibility. Maybe PS5 have, maybe not, maybe the delay was because BC.
*
* Next Xbox Launch Games?
*
* - Halo Infinite ( Crossgen )
* - Forza Motorsport ( Crossgen ) + ( First RayTracing Game )
* - Age of Empires 4 ( Crossgen )
* - Perfect Dark
* - Killer Instinct 2
* - Bleeding Edge ( Crossgen )
*
* And a few more surprises, the first year of the Next Xbox will be the best lineup of all time.
* Some old franchises will return, new IPs from new Devs, exclusive Japanese games, exclusive Spy game, and a lot more.
*
* Next gen will be the best!
* Microsoft have some Bombs to drop in the next months, crazy gooseberry fools are happening, games you expect, some games you don't expect at all, some BIG Acquisition, some Big crazy Services and much more.
* I want to tell a lot more things, but i don't want to drop all the surprises.
* I know some of you don't believe now, but as soon as possible a lot of this will come to the light.
*
* I hope everyone here have a good day!
*
* <3
*
*

Then a verified insider on Restera posted this today in the MS thread -

About the reddit leak.

The hardware is partially true
Storage is true
Raytracing is true
Lockhart is not Streaming box
Xbox SoC codename is Anubis, check AMD's plan
MS AI is not a part of the hardware, in other words, never heard of TPU or ASIC like it
How to implement Raytracing? See GDC 2019
Why they make a decision like Lockhart? See GDC 2019
Why there still no DevKit? After GDC 2019

In June, Microsoft will be heading to Los Angeles where the company will be hosting its annual E3 keynote. And even though Sony won’t be there, Microsoft is not holding back on making significant announcements.

Microsoft will not be shipping its next-gen consoles until the fall of 2020 but the company is preparing to talk more about the hardware this year at E3, 2019, according to people familiar with the company’s plans. Don’t expect to hear pricing just yet, but the company wants it to be known that they are moving full steam ahead with the upcoming Lockhart and Anaconda devices and will begin to peel back the onion on these two devices.

Last year, the company teased Halo Infinite and that title will be a launch game for the upcoming hardware. With a brand new game engine, the team behind the game is trying to make the story adapt to decisions the user makes and the game may have more RPG (role-playing game) elements than prior versions of the series.

What else will the company be talking about? GamePass will receive a few updates this year and of course, expect the company to highlight new titles coming to the platform as well.

Plans around the event are still coming together but the company is starting to lock-down the announcements for the keynote. Seeing as the event is still about four months away, the company could change plans and alter their keynote but for now, expect to hear more about the plans for Scarlett family of devices at E3 2019.

I just hope we don't go back to the era of target renders as they were always complete bollocks.

http://www.jeuxvideo.com/news/1006598/p ... 3-2019.htm

- Two Scarlett devices announced this E3: Lockhart and Anaconda
- Lockhart = entry level device, no disc drive, digital focused machine
- Anaconda = high end device, price similar to Xbox One X's launch price
- Xbox should announce a disc drive less Xbox One in the coming months
- Launch fall 2020
- For the specs sheet, they say that this is what was rumored to be but can only confirm the presence of SSDs on both machines. They're NOT confirming the full sheet.
- Halo Infinite is a launch crossgen game
- Ninja Theory's game is slated for early 2020

Shame to hear the cheaper version will be disc-drive-less, I was hoping these consoles would increase the market for Ultra HD Blu-ray

I expect PS5 and Anaconda to come with them built in.
