Ah well, it was what I feared that they would win and they did.

A lot of mistakes from the Saints and they always came up short in the playoffs. I think Drew Brees is going to retire and it'll be a new era for New Orleans in the next season.

Chiefs Vs Packers for Super Bowl I think.

Ill never rule out Tom Brady in a big game. wasnt sure how he would go this year with all the changes but he still has that magic and can get the job done. On paper the Packers are much too good and Rodgers is in great form but I just cant pick against Brady as much as I might want to.

Of course I agree with you.

The Bucs can win and anything can happen in NFL.

We are in a treat with good games on this weekend.

For a while last night the BBC's live feed was reporting that the Browns had beaten the Chiefs, so I got all excited (I'm not a Browns fan, just excited at the upset) only to then start reading the text, being very confused, and finally realising that they'd got the result wrong. :fp:

Pleased to see the Packers going well though. :datass:

If Brees is leaving, I wonder who will be the replacement?

Hill
Winston
Or a new QB.

It's been eleven years since I became a fan of New Orleans Saints. :datass:

Why not both! Hes gonna take some time but I dont think well have to wait too long for the answer, the Saints will want to know what hes doing to plan for next year but I think either way we could see the rotation of QBs taken into next year, worked out very well for them so far. BE interesting to see how it would go as a more permanent thing.

GB not holding up their end of the bargain, ugly last few drives, hill to climb now. Never count Rodgers out though!

Edit: jinxed them into action. 8-) Going to be a great 4th quarter.

The Bucs!

Once again, like Rax said, you can't rule Tom Brady out.

Bills Vs Chiefs coming up next.

Didn't watch the championship game but just read that the Packers went for a field goal on 4th and goal at 31-23 with only 2 minutes left. What the hell kind of decision is that?

A bad one! It was very surprising, although their defense had done a good job of limiting the Bucs in the second half. The problem is, even if they had made a stop, they still needed to score a touchdown to win so they may as well have tried at 31-23.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if I was missing something in the context of the game but given that they'd still need to score a touchdown anyway I can't see any benefit to going for the field goal? Seems a really strange decision.

It was fourth and about ten or eleven from goal, not an easy shot by any manner or means but I still think it was a suicidal decision not to go for it.

Bills started off well here and have faded badly, which is a shame as I’d like them in the Bowl for Kevin Cadle, RIP.

Can’t be many QBs who have walked away from their careers with an AFC and NFC championship ring, can there? And potentially now having won a SB from both sides of the league? Brady’s got strawberry floating frightening statistics at this point.

For me the worse decision was Rodgers not tucking and running, Its unlikely he would have made it, there were defenders around, but would have at least made it 4th and short and given yourselves a better chance to convert the TD.

I agree though, that was no time to kick it, the mentality of the coach can have a huge impact. Look at last week, Andy Reid called a pass play on 4th and 1 to ice the game, that gooseberry fool will energise the team, theyll execute that play to perfection, the same last night, you call your best play there and the players will respond. Give your team the best possible chance to succeed, Rodgers is more likely to win you the game than Crosby is.

Anyway, the Superbowl feast will be Cuban Sandwich and KC BBQ. Still not sure what to make for BBQ though, ribs, brisket, sausage, everything is an option, the only certainty is there will be sauce. The Cuban sandwich is all pork though so Im leaning brisket for the BBQ, will see what the week brings though.

As impressive as Brady and this Bucs run have been, hard to look past KC defending the SB, they just look too good on offense.

31-23, 2:09 left
- score a td, PAT 31 - 30 - still need another score to win (fg likely)
- score a td, 2pt conversion - tie game, but need another score to win
- score a fg, 31-26, still need another score to win (fg not enough)

coaching philosophy is you take the pts that are there - the fg is almost a dead cert, the 4th and goal with distance not so much
there may be statistical trends that i am not aware of that point to that being the better decision (e.g. 4th and goal long against TB, unlikely to succeed) but like you guys have said you cant underestimate the impact that has on a team mentally if you dont go for it

yeah i dont get it either

I prefer a slight refinement of that, "kick it early, go for it late", or take the points until you really have no other choice. You know, like maybe down by 8 to the greatest QB to play the game with a handful of minutes left on the clock, that might be a good time to go for it.

so who's watching then and what are your predictions?

im going for the Pats but that's simply a toss up and i think the Chiefs offence is a bit stop/start so if Brady can manage the game theyll win
on the other hands KC can easily got 21 up in 3 minutes so we'll see

making wings with 4 sauces: buffalo sauce; peri peri; soy sauce/honey/ginger/garlic; and bbq/bourbon!

I will watch it but not all of it and it's difficult to say who will win.

I'll go for... The Bucs! Even I want the Chiefs to win it. :shifty:

They'll do well to win considering they're not playing :P ;)

I'm going to try and watch as much as I can, working from home gives me a rare opportunity to stay up very late on a Sunday for once and not suffer the consequences as much as I would if I had to show up at the office.

Chiefs to win, if only because I don't like Tom Brady and I hate the Glazers.
