Please can someone clever explain NFTs to me?

Because as far as I can tell, it's just buying slightly different cartoon images of monkeys, then becoming furious when others copy or screenshot that same image. And that sounds so utterly absurd to me that it can't possibly be right.

I looked it up on Google and Wikipedia but I'm none the wiser.

From what i can gather, it's basically a load of bollocks which has been invented as a means of giving stupid rich people something to waste their money on.

If you don't know you don't know but don't get left behind because it's the next big thing and we're working on something big right now can't say too much but let's just say Grcade avatar tokens on the Blockchain.

It's not buying the actual pictures, it's buying the record of ownership of a url that happens to point to an image, and it's as dumb as it sounds.

It's capitalists attempting to force scarcity and property rights onto digital media which is inherently infinitely reproducible.

That's without getting into the hugely disproportionate environmental impact due to relying on blockchains that use proof-of-work (i.e. waste computational power).

They were knowledgeable enough to write all those tweets on the subject, but constantly call them NTFS. Weird.

Essentially, its a way of money laundering. Send big amounts of money back and forth in the hope others will believe those valuations, buying into the cult and adding bucks onto your portfolio. Its very similar to how people used to use art auctions to boost the reputations of artists, by just sending money back and forth in a public display.

What I detest about NFTs is how they are the absolute enemy of artists. They not only pretend that isn't the case, they seem to think they know so much better than artists who have been running their businesses for years and years, and if questioned - they go full dark-web on them. Its absolutely strawberry floating pathetic, and the mindset of many who believe the only thing that matters is money. Its pretty ghoulish at its worst.

At the end of the thread they clarify that they misspelled all the cryptocurrency-related terms on purpose so that the thread wouldn't get spammed by weird Twitter robots.

Please delete that image from your personal computer immediately. You will soon hear from my legal team.
