Played the demo.

I like the more thoughtful pace of the game.

Might get this... hmmm....

The skill stick on this is brilliant. Best sports game ever, no question.

I used to like the 2K series, but the last couple of EA NHL games have been superb. I'd even agree with Stig and say the NHL series has become the best sports game, starting with 07, getting even better with 08 and hopefully 09 will be better still.

I preferred the 09 demo to 08 the full game. I'll be picking this up as soon as it is released. 07 was brilliant but I think 09 will beat it.

I've always been meaning to get stuck into the NHL and NFL games, just because it's something different, but I havent got a clue on the rules of either sport other than score more than the other team to win. Is it easy enough to pick up and learn the game without really knowing the sport?

Ice hockey definitely is easy to understand. Like football really.

American football isn't as easy....

Has the release date for NHL 09 changed from the 12th of September to the 26th of September? i pre-ordered NHL 09 earlier today from Game then just a couple of minutes ago i received an email saying the release date has changed to the 26th...i found this strange considering everywhere else is saying its out on the 12th which is this friday.

I think the PS3 version has been delayed to the 26th. Is that what you ordered?

Yeah thats right, do you know why? If its definitely just the PS3 version thats been delayed im just going to cancel my order and get it on the 360.

No, I'm not sure why. The 360 version is still marked up for Friday on EA's press site and all the retailers, so looks like it's only the PS3 version that's been delayed.

PS3 version delayed? For me that's good news as I can't really afford to buy another game this week. I could get it on 360 but for some reason I've fallen out of love with it and am now buying multiformat releases on PS3 - unless there's a big difference in quality between the 2 versions.

They've only delayed the PS3 version so I can't buy it cheap in Morrisons on Friday.

Just changed my order to the 360 version. Been looking forward to this game for ages and I don't really want to have to wait longer to get it.

NHL 08 really is ridiculously good and i'd pick up 09 if I wasn't still so into working my way through the dynasty mode in 08. One downside with 08 that is unusual for an EA game is the lack of in-game stats and tv style shenanigans. They could almost get away with more EA scmaltz thrown in but in the rink it's a complete joy to play.

I'll probably end up picking 09 up when it drops to £20, on PS3.

I was going to get this on PS3 but not sure I can wait. Think I might just get it today on 360.
