Good stuff. I figured it was likely, but didn’t want to get my hopes up. I’d have bought it anyway.

Fair to say that this one is going to divide opinions then?! That’s one problem with Game Pass - people can add ratings when they haven’t even downloaded the game.

Don't know what it looks like on Xbox but the ratings section of Game Pass on PC always seems to be basically abandoned . Even huge games seem to only show a handful of ratings, it's like people don't know it exists or something!

Definitely going to give this a try on Game Pass, I do tend to feel a bit guilty about playing indie type games on there though as it feels like they would benefit more from direct support!

They do get paid for their game being on there though, right? Sure someone mentioned on here that indie games sell better after being added to Game Pass too.

Not sure the exact economics of it but yeah I think they get some payment - my understanding is that it's not much though, similar to the gooseberry fool kickbacks artists get from Spotify and the like.

Like you say it does give them far greater visibility and results in future sales so it's probably a good thing overall

I started this last night. Gotta say, i'm massively impressed so far. It feels like there are so many (literal and figurative) avenues to explore. I'm not sure how much of it is smoke and mirrors (nor do i really want to know), but seeing the amount of fares etc that are available, all of which have had interesting stories and many of which have vital info is astounding.

A few of the game mechanics are not particularly well explained (i'm ok with this, it kind of adds to the ambiance) and i had a lock up almost immediately (resolved by quitting back to the menu and reloading the game save), but yeah, this feels like a breath of fresh air.

I anticipated this being a slightly inferior competitor to Neo Cab, but so far i am actually enjoying it more. And i really like Neo Cab, and it certainly feels like a Taf game!

That's genuinely great to hear, thank you. I actually started my first proper playthrough last night (I was far too nervous to play it on release) and it's amazing how much the music and the design of the whole thing changes the dialogue from cold words on a white document.

I also came across the two characters I wrote. I've spoilered them in case anyone wants to guess which were mine:

First is Melchior, the transhumanist with the Cloud in his brain.

Image

I'm really happy with how he turned out, I wanted sinister and I got sinister, but I do wish I'd chosen a more down-to-earth premise. But I love his design, and I'm happy with the dialogue. Also, I'm not 100% sure but I think the artists might have based his appearance on myself a little. Which is excellent.

Second is Lola

I am a cliche of myself. But seriously, and not to toot my own horn, I am so, so proud of Lola. Managed to get a few mentions in of my favourite Manchester things too which I'm amazed weren't cut.

I absolutely thought the second one was yours. I really dug that twist in the dialogue and the slow realisation that
a decision she made was not what you may have anticipated
. Vague description there, but i'm sure you know what i mean - you wrote it!

Cant wait to play more anyway, its got me absolutely enthralled.

Finished the first case yesterday, really enjoyed it. Looking forward to starting the second one today. Would really like to play it with headphones, as i love all the ambient music etc, but its just too hot to be putting any on right now.

Really happy you liked it! I think the whole team was a little disappointed by the way the investigation mechanics shook out, but they were very much a means to an end, with the passengers being the real stars.

Finished the 3rd and final case today. I really enjoyed it overall.
I absolutely agree with the sentiment of the actual investigations being a means to an end. It did not really harm my enjoyment though, I really liked the dialogue with the passengers and hearing the stories unfold. Some of them really shook me, and some made me chuckle. Many just made me think.
I am planning to go back to it in free ride mode as I want to hear more from the characters. I read the Waypoint review, and (if I recall their sentiment correctly), I think it was quite an honest and considered appraisal.

I've met both Taf's characters, and done the first case so far. Enjoying it a lot.

I don't know which characters are Taf's. I started with random cases. Only played an hour, police detective threatened me etc. It's utterly captivating and the look and feel are something I've not seen in games before, it's noir sure but aesthetically and thematically it's brooding and stark. The writing is top notch and the whole idea (so far) is interesting. The music is excellent also.

Great review here (the website itself seems to be trash, with loads of nasty click bait banners, but their reviews are some of the best short piece efforts out there, something i have thought for a good couple of years).

Taf should be happy with the mention of the Brexit story being one of the reviewers favourites!

The gaming stuff from the Metro is what used to be Game Central on Teletext, and was the successor to Digitiser. It's always been good.

That's interesting - i used to read that and Digi everyday, thanks!

Digi was my favourite, Biffo seems to have completely gone away from gaming related content in the past couple of months though.

Was hoping to play this tonight (Game Pass PC) but I get to the title screen and click my mouse button and.... it just sits there. I've tried what few suggestions I could find but nothing has worked.

It's quite a nice title screen though Taf.
