@Karl: I think what Jawa means is that it sounded like you were blaming Kerr (and the rest by default) for Taf’s hostility, as though it were our fault for being stupid cowards, when actually Taf chooses to take everything said in the worst possible context and as though said with the worst possible intentions. You’ve done that too in the past, so this wouldn’t be the first time for either and could be taken as... complicit (or more than just Taf vs Jawa).

Yeah I largly think Taf has gotten away with treating anyone who disagres with him as stupid, going so far as to be like yo I have messaged someone to correct them its cool... People are intitled to there own oppinion and no one needs unsolicited guidance or being told they will be schooled in the one true way.

I also think people have this idea I am pro rape or want to make excuses for people, no I want everyone to be given a fair shake of the stick and for all people and ideas to be respected until there is full on concrete proof it shoud be otherwise. I risked my own safty during a hostage situation to prevent someone being raped so its pretty condesending to have people talk to me like that, If you want to know what I am talking about then watch this

I didn't see Tafdolphin's response before he deleted it. It seems that Tafdolphin wants to be able to call names and respond in confrontational ways, and anyone challenging that situation will be waved away. Indeed, he has successfully managed this and subsequently clearly said that he "has reasons" why he can't ignore me.

In terms of how I feel about this situation, I don't think there is going to be a way forward from it.

Goodbye! I will keep in touch with GRcade folk via gaming systems. I guess I'd better not rely on Nintendo too much on this front.

Sure, OK, but what are you accusing me of here, materially? I'm not a moderator, so I can't do anything about anything Taf has said (if he's broken a forum rule that's between you, him, and the mods). I can consider my own behaviour and perhaps I should as I'm clearly being very rude without realising it. In retrospect, in this thread, can you explain to me how should I have conducted myself to better suit you, Jawa, and so on?

The problem is that the rape and sexual assault conviction rates are so low, are victims really getting a 'fair shake of the stick'.

Out of the 98% or so of rape cases that get unconvicted, how many are really likely to be a case of the victim lying? There will be some for sure, but I doubt it's a significant percentage.

This is like the umpteenth time this happened on this forum, where people with views outside the GRcade 'norm' are pushed out, and it's not a good look.

He left because of a reply he didn't see and a reason I didn't give. I still don't like the fact that he's supposedly left.

I'm not a mod any more but I'm not really sure there's anything material they can do about it. Back when I was a mod we were all aware of this problem and honest to God we tried so many different things to facilitate a "polite exchange of ideas", but there are some topics where it just won't happen. If you're talking about rape, Brexit, racism, trans rights, concentration camps, it's just inevitable that it will get heated.

They don't have the manpower to, like, real-time review these debates. And while we all agree in principle that we should be polite to each other (even without mods stepping in), that means a hundred different things depending on who you ask. Even then, even the pros (the politicians and the journalists) lose their cool over politics sometimes.
