There are shedload of new bounty hunt missions in the post game. A quick gander at Google and you can find a bunch of good guides for which familiars to use to make a nigh unbeatable party. I went for,

Oliver: Catastroceros, Najapatra, Scrapdragon
Esther: Grimray, Wimpeafowl, Wildwood
Swaine: Bone Baron, Phantasma, Paleolith

All characters levels were 99 and all familiars levels were maxed out at all three stages of development.

Can anyone give me some pointers with regards the combat. It just doesn't seem to be clicking for me at the moment. I'm fairly early in the game and only have 3 familiars (that should give you a pointer to where I am). I mostly seem to be using my mite as the Thumbelemur takes quite a bit of damage and I almost never use the 3rd familiar I have. I'm currently getting my arse kicked on a regular basis whilst grinding outside Al Mamoon.

Have you been into Al Mahmoon yet? I remember really struggling in the desert area and had to almost sneak past a load of wandering enemies. I then kind of hung about there, almost using it like a safe base, and did the odd battle before nipping back to town to top up my energy. That area was probably the one I struggled with most, oddly.

With regards to combat, try to avoid button mashing to do your attacks and remember you can move your familiars about to avoid attacks as well as using defend. Your third familiar should be the sprite thingy, right? I kept that all the way through the game and used it mostly for support rather than attacks. Using Psyche Up with the Thumbelemur helps to take enemies out pretty quickly too.

Failing that, you might want to go back to the Rolling Hills and grind a bit more there (not the best, I know).

Hope that helps somewhat.

This is definitely on my buy list when it's dirt cheap.

Is this game expensive because it's still new or is it expensive because it's getting a limited run or something?

It's popular. It isn't that great though. Only get it if you love that kind of game.

I'm probably the last person playing this now but I'll spoil this anyway just in case. I just have to say, the music in fairyland is utterly sublime.

I finished it the other day, and have found myself saying "proper tidy, mun" at random intervals. It's definitely worth sticking out, such an enjoyable game. There are some farming spots later on that help if you hit a wall, and it really does take it's time giving you new stuff. I'm just kind of bummed that it's all over.

I'm about half way in and honestly I'm just finding it a complete grind the battles take no skill whatsoever to win, you very rarely need to use a second familiar never mind a third. Once the charm of the stunning visuals wears off I've found I'm left with a very slow progressing story line and very little substance. I've just defeated CandelabracadaverI'm thinking I might throw in the towel i'm disappointed in it to be honest I was really up for Ni No Kuni after seeing IGN's review of it.

That bit was a massive low point for me - I'd recommend power-levelling the Tokos/Tokotokos to ultra-boost your party so you can scythe through all combat to focus on the story, I was about to chuck it in and did that, and it got a lot better.

I only really go on it every couple of days it might be better now I've picked up the Travel Spell which I'm sure will speed things up some what. The annoying thing is I just find all you need to do in combat is choose Mitey and press attack constantly until your opponent is dead. I don't find myself having to use any of the other mechanics like All Out Defend etc. Plus one of the biggest drawbacks are the towns/cities etc there's nothing in them.

Saw this in Sainsbury's for £15, so the lass has got me it for Christmas.

I hope it's strawberry floating good, I know little to nothing about it but I want to get stuck into an RPG whilst I'm off work. I think the last JRPG I actually completed was Lost Odyssey!

Just downloading/installing this now from the PSN January sale. Started the download at around 12am to 1am last night, went to bed, it's now on 85% (install) at 8am :o I think I'm getting about 6.5mbps connection.
