Today has really been my lucky day with this game. I got the items for the War God's Axe and not only did I catch a Toko but I've just caught a Gold Toko too.

Finally about to start this - (bought it the day it came out). I've worked out that the way to play it is with Japanese audio from a very quick intro. in both languages. A bit concerned re some of the rather average things I've read about it recently though so I'm hoping i enjoy it... Oh well, here goes.....

It has a slow start, but if you stick with it you will enjoy it.

You have to get 250 Different types. You can get all variations of one species. I have 130ish so i cant see me trying for another 120

Speaking to a guy on Raptr and he said it took him a further 30hrs to get them

Anyone else beat Guardian of Worlds?

I'm on about 179 different species. I may end up going for 250 by farming for Tokotocolds in the Ivory Tower. I'm currently doing just that to evolve my 2 Tokos and Mandragorer. Other than that I'm effectively done with this game, killed both versions of Guardian of Worlds, aced S Rank, I still need a few trophies like steal 50 times, max familiarity and 50/50 growth so might work on those too.

Steal 50 times can easily be done in 10 minutes, just go to the first area and put your group to defend and control swaine. Also worth creating Queen of Chocolate for Ollies first familier as this will level him up quicker.

I'll go back to Rolling Hills and rob the local wildlife blind then.

Funnily enough the first version of Guardian of Worlds wasn't that hard (in fact Zodiarchangel was harder) it's when you fight him for a second time that he's really challenging.

I did need to use a guide to help me build a formidable party however and it worked a treat.

Yeah his second form was a bitch :( Surprised there wasn't a trophy for it but you level up nicely

Jesus wept, when does this game actually start ? I'm about 7 hrs in and bored to tears. If a game held your hand anymore.... surely at some point you must have to work something out for yourself ??

If you want the game to stop holding your hand you can turn off the guiding star in the options menu. Also once you get the boat which is very shortly after the trials try exploring some of the islands you can dock at, North East of the Summerlands starting area should give you a surprise along the lines of "Hey, I know these guys. Wait a minute why am I dead?"

EDIT: Also given that you've just finished the trials you'll probably be at Old Smoky now which has what I regard as the game's first really challenging boss fight.

Turned off the guiding star v early on but there is still far too much sign-posting as to where to go / what to do next. I shall no doubt keep going to the bitter end but so far, I have to say, I am bitterly disappointed with this.

I think it picks up once you get the boat and then again later on when you can get access to some of the better familiars like Dinoceros.

Yeah, this game is overrated alright. The only really good thing, is the addicting "gotta capture them all" mentality. And even that gets frustrating.

91 hours in and 197 familiars. I really want that 250 familiars trophy.

If you farm Tokotocolds in the corridor right before the White Witch it's not such a problem. You can get a first form familiar to the third form in no time at all, even maxing level at stages one and two.

I think I'll need to do that for a bit.

I've tried to take her on twice now, got her down the this much energy on her final form and get spiked by all the satellite things (which I'd taken out not long before). First time I've thrown my game controller in a while

Looks like I've exhausted all the the quests as I only have Derwin's last one to do. Might try taking out some Tokotocolds to get that done too.

Finished :D

Really enjoyed that, it still feels like there's loads more I've either missed or have yet to be able to do, those stones that you find on some islands for example.

Thanks for the Tokotocold tip, I managed to get about 4 of them in quite quick succession which took me nicely up to lv 82.

I've started doing some of the post-game quests now. How many bounty hunts are there?! :dread:
