Any advice on how to get some actual streetpass hits in 2020? I've just bought a new 2DS XL and redownloaded all my old games but it won't let me redownload any streetpass games without having one hit first.

I live in Sheffield and in a month I've not picked up one hit despite hanging around the train station and other large public places.

Basically you won't, unless you organise it with someone specifically. You might get lucky but it's going to be a rare occurence. Your other option is to buy a second 3DS so you can streetpass yourself.

Maybe you could go in to somewhere like the National Videogame Arcade (as that's in Sheffield) and ask the staff if they can streetpass you - there must be 3DS' in there!

I have Radiant Historia on DS, it's awesome.

Really tempted by 5 and Nexus. I love Etrian Odyssey.

It's my birthday tomorrow so I might treat myself to yet another 3DS game, I have like 10 to complete now.

Really annoying that yo have to add funds via Nintendo's website now though, guess they couldn't be bothered updating the payment infrastructure for 3DS Secure 2.0 which requires a text message etc.

Between 2011 and 2014, I got a whopping two Streetpass hits.

I moved to Japan, and took the 3DS with me when some friends from the UK visited in 2015 and we did a sort of whistle stop tour of various places across the country, got about 300 in a week.

If was basically designed to be played on Japanese trains on a Tokyo commute. Even then, by 2015 or so, most people seemed to be playing mobile games. Took my 3DS with me to Tokyo the other week and didn't get any new ones. Only really see very young kids playing a 3DS now, though I'd argue that it's possibly still a better bet for handheld gaming than the Switch. Such a strong library of games.

Sister was complaining about this as well. It sounds really dumb, I had no idea they changed it.

Also, Happy Birthday for tomorrow. March birthday supremacy :datass:

It's pretty surprising that Nintendo didn't update the 3DS or Wii U digtal shops to allow credit card usage. Presumably there is now so little purchasing that they didn't think it worthwhile.

Still, alongside the "use the website" option, there are two other methods. Probably the easiest is to purchase a Nintendo eShop card; either from a shop or online. Secondly, if you're a Switch owner, you can top-up your account balance in that system and - provided your 3DS is linked up to the same NNID / Nintendo account as your Switch - then use the funds to make purchases from your 3DS.

Going through my old DS/3DS games and I have so many that are untouched

Aliens Infestation
Ghost Trick
Rhythm Paradise Megamix
Fantasy Life
Warioware Gold

I wonder how jarring it will be going back to 3DS after playing Switch for so long.

I usually forget I even have a 3DS, but when I do go back in always surprised at just how good it is.

I just fired up Ocarina of Time 3D on my New 2DS XL and you are right, it doesn't actually look that bad at all.

Looking at a few 3DS games I missed

Ever Oasis
Mario & Luigi Bowsers Inside Story remake
Monster Hunter Stories
Metroid: Samus Return
Hey Pikmin

Any of them worth grabbing? if so, anyone know when i can get them cheap?

Ever Oasis is a gem, and I loved Monster Hunter Stories too, but I think being a monster hunter fan is a big help with that
