I've got every 3DS model and an absolute tonne of games. I love the thing. I'll do a proper game count at some point.

Of the 3DS models that I've used...

New 3DS > 3DS > 3DS XL

Always preferred the more compact models and, for me, the New 3DS has proved to have just the right mix of size, comfort and cool design. Those SNES buttons and much-improved 3D  . Having said that, I'm a big fan of the original model, too; it was well-made and felt like it was good quality.

Also, this system has the stealth best game in 'ghost recon shadow wars'

Played that the other night, very underappreciated gem.

One thing that I'm disappointed it didn't turn into anything greater was the AR (Augmented Reality) functionality. I liked how cool the demo cards that came with the system were but I believe only one game - Kid Icarus Uprising - expanded the idea any further. Some of the Uprising cards looked great; it was amazing to see the monsters "appear" on the cards!

At that point I had visions of many future titles including an AR card but, alas, this never happened.

You just reminded me that I got this game on the Vita:

For pure novelty it's good fun, I want to play it again now but I'm not sure where the AR cards have got to!

Okay, so I counted and I have exactly 100 physical games for 3DS.

... :o . That sounds like a lovely collection, RG!

You know, considering that the system is eight years old and I have four 3DS consoles, I don't have *that* many games for it. For me, it doesn't quite have the range of titles that the DS did but, even though the quantity may be lower, the quality is still there.

Thanks. I really loved the console, and I think I've pretty much decided to just buy the last of any games vaguely worth buying, as I seem to have most of them now.

I think Kingdom Hearts also used cards in some form as I got a stack of them along with Kid Icarus cards from Club Nintendo :fp:

And they are all the same cards in each pack :fp: :fp:

I imagine that kind of thing had a lot more software we can't even read in Japan along with face mapping style stuff.

I've not really played through Birthright, but between it and Conquest it was designed to be easier with its gameplay being more similar to Awakening. Like in Awakening you're given opportunities to grind for exp in between the main missions. Conquest is more like the classic games in that it doesn't have that, and overall it was just intended to be more difficult.

Phoenix mode, which was introduced in both Birthright/Conquest, does make either of those games trivial in terms of challenge though. But I believe it's in Echoes: Shadows of Valentia as well and presumably will be in later games too.

Birthright definitely has the easiest mode, but I personally find Awakening a more enjoyable game, as it has a better story, in my opinion.

Awakening is the best Fire Emblem on 3DS. It's actually one of the best games on the system.
