Oh and one new Nintendo developed IP would have been nice.

I was hoping for that as well, but to be honest, Kid Icarus looks so different from its predecessors that it might as well count as a new one. I think Epic Mickey's the closest to a 'new' one for Wii.

The Alchemist Penguin wrote:It sounds like they're making the "first Zelda" with this one, based on the plot they're talking about. The origin of the Master Sword!

Everything about the screens and the video of the level also suggest the dungeons are out, or at least changed. That area looked like an open field, something like Kokiri Forest or Hyrule field, but yet also was a dungeon, with doors and bosses. It looked amazing, and was the exact direction I was hoping the series would be going in.

Was the way I was hoping it would go, too.

Tired of going to all the Dungeons and being stuck there until you've killed the boss. Would really like it if there was just one amazing landscape with lots of charm and detail, which also happens to be like one massive Dungeon with lots to see.

This live blog has me very excited for the story and where it fits in chronologically.

I'm not getting drawn into the whole timeline fiasco this time around. It's the raving of madmen trying to make meaning of chaos, and has been completely irrelevant to almost every Zelda since... no. It's just completely irrelevant. It's nice getting a nod to other games, be it something trivial like Ganon's trident in Four Swords or something more substantial like all the direct references to the Hero of Time in Wind Waker, but that's all.

Anyway, the conference. Zelda looks brilliant, although it made me want a game where you cheer up a distraught Miyamoto by torturing whoever dropped a bollock on the Zelda stage demo. The music in the Metroid trailer was a giant cocktease (get to the theme already!), but the game still looks pretty damn good. Kirby looks great. Epic Mickey actually has me interested despite my absolute hatred of Mickey Mouse.

Donkey Kong Country Returns... I kind of wish Retro had gone their own way with it rather than emulate the old Rare games/style, but I'm looking forward to it. Could be ace.

Then there's 3DS. It sounds amazing from the reports coming out of E3, and the games! Paper Mario! Enhanced OoT and Starfox 64 remakes! Pilotwings! Icarus! Resi, MGS, Kingdom Hearts! Oh, and the same Animal Crossing I've been playing since the Gamecube version...

I never really understand how Animal Crossing is supposed to be an experimental and innovative game yet all the versions are seemingly identical or indeed that, just "versions". :? What's the point?

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

The idea of a Zelda crossed with the freedom of Skies of Arcadia should be amazing. The interview with Aomuna stated that Link lives above the clouds in a city that has forgotten all about the land below which is now full of monsters. Its like Laputa in reverse.

I hope we get more than just top -> bottom travel, and actually get to fly around the skies at different islands/lands. The open world of Wind Waker crossed with the freedom of swimming as the Zora in MM, only in the sky.

I don't think it was a stunt, so much as it was necessary - there's no other way they could actually show people the 3D working without showing them a 3DS in the flesh.

I'm not really into 3D girls but I'll make an exception for them.

I missed the conference. Sounds like I missed one hell of a show.

Still, I've been looking at the promo material on the Nintendo E3 site, and I'm blown away. I don't care how much the damn thing is, I want one.

If you had told me 24 hours ago that Nintendo would have the best conference at E3, make me want to rebuy a Wii, pre-order a 3DS and want the majority of the titles shown for it and look forward to the line up more than the 360s and PS3s I would have laughed in your face.

Well played Nintendo.
