Pikmin 2 is coming out later on this year.

I think we all would. Even more so if they actually finished it this time around.

i do have to admit I'm a little surprised that Nintendo has simply chosen to port Gamecube games to the Wii rather than make Pikmin 3.

It's making Pikmin 3 as well.

£25 is a joke. I remember picking RE4 up for £20 when it came out and that had had a reasonable amount of work done on it too. I would love to play Mario Tennis on Wii but there are a whole load of newer games I haven't played that I could put £25 towards.

You say £25 is a joke - that's the lowest price. RRP according to Nintendo is £29.99, and some retailers have set it as high as £39.99. :|

No way I would pay for a game I already played. Still the GC was no where near as popular as the Wii, so most people who will buy it probably won't have heard of Pikmin before.

This sounds to me as a relatively quick & easy way by Nintendo to try & appease the hardcore. Reselling titles, some that were released at launch for the GC - at £30 a piece - is an outrage.

Sadly the hardcore have played them all already.

Go Nintendo.

Although even my heart of stone is somewhat warmed by the idea of Metroid Prime with Wii controls.

But then I remembered I bought it, finished it and loved it for about a fiver.

Or perhaps they're trying to get their new audience more savvy to their other franchises, it makes sense to try and teach people what Pikmin is before going ahead and releasing the third, people who don't know Pikmin may be turned away seeing it's the third having not played the first and second for example.

At £30 quid? They could also call it "Pikman on Holiday" or something, thus removing the connotations a number would have.

Funny how some of the best games ever are suddenly worthless because they're a bit older, despite the fact that they have been improved, and are still unparalelled in terms of greatness.

I never said they were worthless, I just said they weren't worth three tens.

Well then, buy the GC versions. Everyone's a winner.

Nintendo responds to GameCube-Wii title pricing

Nintendo has explained to Eurogamer that Wii remakes of GameCube games will not be full price as retailers suggested yesterday.

"Nintendo do not set prices," said a spokesperson for the company. "It is up to retailers at what price they sell any item for."

"However, our trade price for these games will be below our usual trade price for Wii games and our present estimate of the likely retail price is in the region of GBP 29.99."

The New Control Play! brand takes top performers from the GameCube catalogue and converts them to Wii, adding motion sensing controls and various other improvements.

Pikmin is the first to be given the treatment and will arrive on shelves from 6th February. Mario Power Tennis will follow on 6th March, and Nintendo already has Pikmin 2 and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat in the pipeline.
