What I would say though, Nintendo only have 1 major release (Yoshi’s Crafted World) and nothing planned for April/May? So they only have released 2 games in the first 5 months of the year

Second half of the year looks stacked though, they could have spread releases out a bit better

Dragon Quest games! More Starlink content! Super Mario Maker 2!

Astral Chain looking interesting, and I'll certainly be getting the demos of Yoshi and Daemon tomorrow. My guess is Animal Crossing gets its own Direct - possibly even next week. Or maybe Gen8'mon goes first. Either way, neither game has been forgetten, you can guarantee that.

What a great Direct all round, though.

Fire Emblem was probably meant to release in April or May before getting pushed back to July.

So many weeb games

Particularly interested in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Oninaki, Daemon x Machina now that we've seen a bit more of it, and that Astral Chain game looks really cool.

Liking the look of the new Fire Emblem so far. Looking fresh.

Tetris 99 :o

Bloodstained - eh I guess I'm still fairly curious about it. I really like Castlevania games and I've heard good things about Curse of the Moon. Not crazy about the look of it though, and that snippet of voice acting they picked out was awful.

Thought about getting a Rune Factory game before. Might check out 4 on the 3DS, then get 5 on the Switch when it comes out if I fancy it.

Overall a pretty great direct with so many games announced, and a fair few games that interested me beyond what I've mentioned. The ending reveal kind of fell flat for me though. Don't really care about Link's Awakening being remade. Mixed feelings about its look as well - it's lovely but Link seems a bit odd, and I get an uncanny 3D Dot Heroes vibe about it.

I think you'll love Bloodstained Kriken. Played the demo for backers on PC and it is awesome. It's very Aria/Dawn of Sorrow.

Astral Chain and Oninaki look quite interesting, and I haven't bought Dragon Quest XI on PS4 yet, but that's about it for this direct. Not even Fire Emblem or Zelda got me particularly hyped, which saddens me, because I REALLY love both of those franchises. Again, it's unfortunately mostly stuff I've already played on other platforms for cheaper.

A real shame.

I could honestly cry

This is the best Nintendo Direct ever

It looks perfect, the original art style of Link's Awakening was already perfect and somehow they have captured its tone exactly while still updating it and bringing into shiny 3D. Plus the opening cutscene all redone as hand-drawn animation and that title like screen heavily drawing from the original concept art and basically I love it.

Rewatching the trailer the actual screen layouts look identical to the original so it seems like a 1 to 1 remake just with a complete aesthetic update - the big change is that it now scrolls on the overworld rather than having individual static screen transitions, although I'm guessing it will still transition between "areas" (like Mabe Village and the Mysterious Forest, when talking to the owl it looks like Link is at the bottom of the screen so it's probably a transition there EDIT: I don't think this is true actually, you can see the edge of the fishing pond very briefly as the camera zooms in). Inside dungeons it looks like it's still single screen rooms, which makes sense given the hidden rooms and how weird it would be to see between rooms (maybe just the multi-screen rooms will scroll). Hopefully the update brings QOL updates too like easier weapon/item switching. It's hard to tell because there is no HUD in the trailer at all, so we can't see equipped weapons, but in the side-scrolling section Link is jumping (with Roc's feather) but still has the sword and shield equipped, which is impossible in the original due to the two item limit.

I am incoherent I can't even talk about the rest of the direct despite SLOPES and TETRIS BATTLE ROYALE the absolute madmen.

I take it none of the ResetEra Insiders™ saw that new Platinum game coming?

How big are Platinum? They seem to be making a lot at the moment.

Would like to take a moment to say how strawberry floating annoyed I am with the Captain Toad DLC. A few years ago I would have murdered each and every one of you for more Captain Toad but of course the new slice of glorious gorgeous puzzle adventure will be locked behind the Switch port.

strawberry floating shite. :x

Just caught up on it this morning. My particular highlights

MUA3 - Slightly concerned that we're not seeing much of it when it's due in less than 6 months. Actually surprised they didn't push to get it done in time for End Game. I have a feeling it'll be very meh but I love the series and just want more.

Super Mario Maker 2 - I'll probably buy it, not have the time or creativity to actually make anything at all and it'll end up gathering dust on the shelf.

Starlink - Probably should have picked it up when it was £25 but I imagine I've missed the boat now with regards a physical copy.

Boxboy - Yep, I'll give that a go having not bought the Wii U ones.

DQ XI - Skipped it on PS4 as I probably wouldn't play it, definitely getting it on Switch as that's the true home of JRPGs now.

FFIX - Can I really justify buying it on another strawberry floating system. The answer is probably yes because I'm weak.

Astral Chain - Platinum 3rd person brawler? Count me in.

Link's Awakening - Looks lovely, definite purchase. Also can't wait for the remake of LTTP as we all know that's the best Zelda.

Already got Yoshi on pre-order, everything else was a bit hit and miss. Some of those 3rd party titles looked rough as a badgers, particularly Grid. Still no answer as to what Retro have been doing for the last 5 years.

More Box Boy :datass:

Super Mario Maker 2

That Link's Awakening Remake looks great. And I want FFIX now but I have no monies.

Just as a heads up: Amazon still has it for £18 new, albeit with a 2-3 week dispatch.

Turns out Game had it for £19.99 and I'd got £2.70 in reward points so I took a punt. Yay, more plastic crap cluttering up the house.
