Anything to do with games at all.

And then Jawa exited the dungeon, and gazed out upon the luscious fields, and shelved the game.

The direct really wasn't full of these. You didn't even mention JRPGs and they were half of the direct! ;)

Knockout City and Star Wars Hunters are probably the biggest offenders, I didn't like the look of those either. But those were more than counterbalanced by the likes of Famicom Detective Club, No More Heroes 3 or Project Triangle Strategy. Work through the list of games shown in the direct and I'm pretty confident the majority don't fall into any of those categories.

You not being any good at Monster Hunter is also really not Nintendo's problem ;)

They claimed (although they are obviously liars) this to be about the first half of 2021. Much like last year, there are definitely more games to be announced.

They claimed (although they are obviously liars) this to be about the first half of 2021. Much like last year, there are definitely more games to be announced.

I mean the only response to this is: "I got tired to listing all the things and genres in modern gaming that don't interest me"!

I could list many more things that appear to be "in vogue" but just don't appeal to me at all that would include lots of this Direct and generally even more of what seems to be getting all of the attention these days - Tactical JRPGs, Visual Novels, Dating Sims, whatever the hell Splatoon is supposed to be etc.

And like I said in my other quoted post: I know there is more to come, and I'm sure I'll like some of it. But it's still acceptable to express some disappointed when the first big Direct that comes along in over a year has nothing to offer me, especially as I say when this is coming on top of several mini Directs which didn't exactly get me going either!

P.S. It's not that I'm bad at Monster Hunter - the demo didn't seem that hard really - just that the game just doesn't grab me at all, I can't find the hook that seems to have drawn so many others into it.

P.P.S. No More Heroes is covered under "generic 3rd person action adventure" ;)

How many game franchises make it to 35 years? I think it's as good an excuse as anything else to do something. Every five years till 50, then nothing till the 100th.

It's not that it's not a big number for video game franchises more that 35 isn't really any significance. 40 and 50 maybe do a bit more of a blow out but I don't see the reason to make a fuss every five years.

Ok so I’ve just finished it and while it wasn’t bad at all there just wasn't much for me?

Skyward Sword HD is day 1 (very tempted by the joycons too), dare say side by side the difference is quite stark but that’s genuinely how I remember it looking on the Wii

The Octopath Traveller esque game looks rather good, but I thought the same about Octopath and quickly burned out on that.

Mario Golf could be good? Looks like it needs quite a bit more work before it releases though.

Animal Crossing Mario items look great, was expecting them to be DIY recipes though :slol:

So yeah not loads of great stuff in there but it was solid, reckon if we’d had a couple of general directs last year the mood may have been different following yesterday’s direct but expectations were high even by crazy Nintendo fans standards

I thought it was overall kinda weak for a big fat Direct, but it did have merits, they just weren't for me.

Mario Golf will be a must buy for me though, so 1 game is something good. Triangle Strat looked interesting.

Balla, my friend, I like you, but Skyward Sword is the most story-driven Zelda ever made

It’s clearly so forgettable that I even forgot it mid-paragraph. :slol:

Nah, that wasn’t what I was trying to say. It’s the last traditional Zelda of a certain mould. After that we had the DS Zeldas and SS with non-traditional overworlds, and then ALBW and BotW with non-traditional game structures. Of course ‘traditional’ only means as much as you want it to, and the Zelda tradition was morphing all the time even then, so it’s pretty much a nonsense point. :fp:

I think I get you. Twilight Princess is the most derivative Zelda game and therefore the most "traditional"

I will probably pick up Mario Golf and Skyward Sword HD but the biggest news for me was that they had no news on BOTW 2. I still can't believe we don't have a new Mario Kart announcement given MK8 is now so old and played to death

@OR: I mean... probably yes? But it was derivative of the previous GoaT and it refined it and IMO made it better, at least at the time. I know you’re bigger into innovation than refinement, whereas I appreciate that it took OoT’s blueprint and brought it to new heights.

It's okay I was at least half baiting you

Twilight Princess is exactly the game I expected it to be (and that is a good game!) while every other Zelda has always taken me playing it to understand what it does differently.

Just had what would be a fun idea for Mario Golf. One of the courses could be comprised of holes based on kingdoms from Odyssey.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

You’ll take your standard grassy courses with the odd green shaped like a Mario enemy and you’ll like them. :capnscotty:

Innovation can't be that important to people. Breath of the wild just took ubisofts formula and refined it and people suck that games dick harder than a 10 dollar hooker.
