That's an interesting take! I didn't mean to #NotAll you, it wasn't really what I meant, but sorry for coming across that way.

I think the opinions expressed by those Twitter users are terrible, and definitely loud & common enough that I think they're worth discussing seriously, and - particularly taking into account things like gamergate - I can (unfortunately) see why people associate shrill manbabies with our entire subculture.

While people like that have been a loud minority in my personal experience, I didn't mean for that comment to minimise or normalise the crappy things they say.

(You were probably mostly kidding but there was clearly a point there so I thought I should reply regardless!)

Photek literally told me I'd given him AIDS because I held an opinion on BioShock Infinite that he did not.

They're both strawberry floating awful when they get going.

Oh, I forgot about that.

I saw that. Shouldn't laugh, but  I thought all the cool* kids talked about being 'literally given cancer' these days?

Thank goodness for that last line! (wipes sweat from brow) I was entirely kidding, dinnae sweat it.

You make a fair point though, that the vocal minority is sufficient big and sufficiently vocal that they could give 'gamers' a bad name. The same's certainly true for when stories about Logan Paul being a twerp or about Twitter death threats make the BBC's 'gaming' section. That said, I would hope that's mostly among the older generations, who didn't grow up with games (a) being a big part of their culture and (b) being played by half of people in some form or other; and that over time, gaming will be viewed in the same breath as rap music. You get some people who listen to it and act like twits, and the rest of the listeners are normal. Especially as most people have played/listened to some in their life.

Of course, people are now blaming 'drill music' for gun crimes, so... :baffledshrug:

To be perfectly honest, I also take issue with how the amount of Wii U and other last-gen ports seem to be surpassing everything else right now - and that's disappointing. Is it unreasonable to expect at least a new 2D Mario game instead of getting the last entry which came out 6 years ago?

As for retiring the 3DS and pooling all their first-party resources on Switch (and I mean no less than 100%), that too is a move which would lock down any concerns that Nintendo are lacking the confidence to go all in.

Seems some of the Direct stuff might start leaking depending on embargo’s

It appears the new Yoshi game will be titled Yoshi’s Crafted World

I've also seen that a complete Lego Harry Potter collection is Switch bound as well. Wonder if we'll finally get a confirmation of Spyro being on the Switch as well before the direct airs?

I'd like to see a Yoshi game where each level was done in a different craft. Say one level is wooly, but the next is felt, and the next is papercraft etc.

Yoshi’s Crafted World is abit clunky, doesn’t really roll off the tongue.

At least it hasn’t disappeared though, and if it is making the Direct, hopefully will be an early ish 2019 title.

I just want to see if that Star Fox racing game is real or not. Animal Crossing is the game I want to see most tho.

It would be stupid for Nintendo not to support the 3DS, because there are millions upon millions of units out there and it's still selling. The switch is an expensive hybrid console.

And both of those 3ds games due are also ports. This approach didn't really hurt other Nintendo consoles.

Animal Crossing is top of my wish list as well, I'm really not getting my hopes up though as I thought we had a decent chance of getting some AC related news at E3 but we know how that turned out

Have Nintendo announced their plans to compensate us all for having to wait longer for the Direct yet? :P

Like everyone I'm looking forward to clarity on the online service (good luck! ) but beyond that I want to see some more details on anything other than Smash really - seems like we've heard enough about that for now and if they go big on that again this time it really will make me concerned that they have nothing else big coming anytime soon.

Either way my backlog of fantastic indies is keeping me more than satisfied and I still have DLC for both Zelda and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 which I haven't even touched yet! :toot:

I find it hard to get excited about a new animal crossing. If they made something that was very different from the older ones I think I would maybe be put off, but at the same time I find it hard to get excited to play something that I’ve already bought and played about 4 different times and can still easily play on my 3DS.

I agree with this. New Leaf really brought everything together and nailed the formula.

They need to do something with the next one to really move the series forward. HD assets wont be enough.
